The Left has no use for the Constitutions. The politicians want to do whatever the want. They want to rule the people with a system of fiat like narco thug gang bangers. If you want to see how well such a system works, look at the North Korean Pig and his atrocious treatment of the citizens under his fist.

Everybody says how Hillary won the popular vote.

Did she ? She got 48%.

Look at it another way, 52% of Americans, a clear majority, wanted someone else.

So how exactly would Hillary be the people’s choice.

Bill Clinton got only 43% of the vote in 1992, but won a clear victory in the electoral vote. Nobody bitched about the electoral vote then

They say the Electoral College is an outdated relic of the past.
I absolutely LOATHE the left.

These idiots want CA,IL,and NY to elect every President from here forward. Here is another effort that has been ongoing for some time now......

Agreement Among the States to Elect the President by National Popular Vote

The National Popular Vote interstate compact would guarantee the Presidency to the candidate who receives the most popular votes in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

The National Popular Vote bill has been enacted by 11 jurisdictions possessing 165 electoral votes—61% of the 270 electoral votes necessary to activate it, including four small jurisdictions (RI, VT, HI, DC), three medium- size states (MD, MA, WA), and four big states (NJ, IL, NY, CA). The bill has passed a total of 35 legislative chambers in 23 states—most recently by a 40–16 vote in the Arizona House, a 28–18 vote in the Oklahoma Senate, a 57–4 vote in New York Senate, a 37–21 vote in Oregon House, and a 26-16 vote in the New Mexico Senate. A total of 3,055 state legislators have either sponsored or cast a recorded vote for the bill.

Pretty sure what they’re referring to is the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact (NPVIC):

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Popular_Vote_Interstate_Compact

If so, then the Dims are lying to the people, because it does not eliminate the Electoral College. Instead, it forces all States’ Electoral College electors to vote for the nominee who got the most popular votes.

Why would the citizen voters in a small State like Connecticut want to give away their votes for their preferred nominee in favor of the nominee preferred by a bunch of large States, like California and New York?

To the libs. OK, here’s an idea. Vote by county. Whoever wins the most votes in a county they get one point. Most points wins the state and that’s how the electoral vote is calculated. You still need 270 and that’s how you get there.

The rats will never go for that, so we change it up a bit. One year before the election, every voter is purged from the voter rolls. Every voter will have to re-register from the place they will vote. The only exception is military personnel overseas.

If the rats don’t like either of these solutions, they can always call for a constitutional convention.

I say again that this compact is unconstitutional. Wide latitude to choose electors is given to the states, but they are required to provide citizens a republican form of government. By voting based on the results of the entire nation, the electors are representing the will of voters in all the states, and not the voters they represent.

Did Connecticut also offer to give up one of their senators to a large population state? With a population of only 3.6 million, they’d be very close to losing a senator if based on population.

Don’t those geniuses understand that the electoral college and the senate both exist because the founders agreed that representation should be based partly on population and partly on equal representation for each state?

I am from Connecticut.

I grew up in Connecticut.

I am seeing what is happening to Connecticut.

Connecticut will be a shithole of a state in 5 years or so ...

Let’s replace it with County percentages. If that’s the case, Trump wins New York.

I say the 2016 election proves its purpose.

Isn't there something in the Constitution that says that states cannot make “compacts” (my word) with each other?

I think I see where you are going with this, but I prefer that we vote by congressional district with the winner of the most districts in a state collecting the “senatorial” EC votes. This would have the effect of strengthening the EC and causing candidates to campaign across the entire country, not just the “battleground” states.

BTW, Nebraska and Maine currently apportion their EC votes by district. If we could run a campaign to have the states fall into line, no modification to the Constitution would be required.

Agreed. Under that system, Trump wins in a landslide. He even wins NY.

Which also needs Congressional approval before it could take effect.

I think you meant to say Congressional approval of a constitution amendment. The Constitution forbids States from entering into compacts to undermine the Federal Government.
