The big gun-control bill House Democrats are pushing after the horrific Florida school shooting has a significant flaw. It won’t prevent the next school shooting.
On Monday, House Democrats introduced an assault weapons ban. Of the 193 Democrats in the House, 168 are sponsors or co-sponsors.
The bill would make it illegal to sell most semi-automatic rifles. It specifically outlaws 205 types of weapons. That list includes rifles, pistols and even shotguns. If that’s not enough, its language is so broad that it would ban any “part … that is designed or functions to accelerate the rate of fire of a semi-automatic rifle.”
That’s a really wordy way to describe a trigger.
It’s a far-reaching bill with one ginormous loophole. The bill exempts every legal firearm in circulation at the time the bill becomes law.

That's a fig leaf because the bill would ban the transfer of these "grandfathered" weapons. Thus you can't give it away or sell it and when you die it would have to be turned in to the state. They are figuring that within a generation they will have "confiscated" these firearms.
Democrat virtue-signaling to their base.
They know it will never become law.
The Democrats went in with armored vehicles at Waco and burned children to death.
They are arrogant in their beliefs and will implement their plans with an iron fist.
No gun control.
Never.
This is all just political posturing, of the type we have come to know so well when the Left finds itself out of power.
The Democrats held both the Presidency and the Legislative Branch for two continuous years, 2009 and 2010; during that time they had the most left-wing president in history.
If they wanted to pass draconian anti-Second-Amendment legislation during that time, they would have been perfectly free to do so. Obama would have signed it, and that would have been the end of it.
Why didn’t they do this when they had the chance?
How hard is it for the voters to understand that we live in a competitive world and foreign powers seek to destroy us?
That path is likely to be very bloody.
Many people will give them the ammo first.
They knew it would cause a revolt.
All I can say about government gun confiscation and the attempted disarming the American citizen is:
Good luck with that, because you will need all of the luck you can get....
It’s a path to “something”, that’s for sure.
Well, partially. I expect they will keep the brass.
If they can outlaw one type of gun, they can outlaw them all.
Never gonna happen. This bill will go to committee to die.

This is simply,
I say, “NO”! Just NO, HELL NO, as in from my cold dead fingers.........
I’m more than willing to die for my right to keep and bear arms, are you willing to die in the attempt to take them away from me?
I can accept that I will die, we all do sooner or later.
This law will never ever make it through congress or get a presidential signature.
Why?
There are millions of people out there, hundreds of thousands of well trained vets, who will make the same decision that I have.

The Dems don’t give a rat’s ass about stopping another school shooting. They are interested in POWER - nothing more, nothing less. They cannot fully exercise the power that they’d like to without a disarmed population. EVERYTHING that they do always comes back to some kind of gun prohibition...because they know that someday, they will be back in power, and when that happens, if the population is largely disarmed (or easily disarmed by having a registration list and some easy excuse to take the weapons), then they will try to do it.
No, they don’t want LESS school shootings, they want MORE...all the better to be able to confiscate our firearms.
That's not a "flaw".
The bill is not intended to prevent school shootings.
It's another step toward their goal of sending many of us to the ovens, and not as pastry chefs.

I think that they knew that particular congress was only going to get one shot at something lefty big, and they chose bozocare. knowing they would lose at least the house in the 2010 midterms, they only had time for pushing one big piece of crap, and that was bozocare.
the whining and gnashing over 2A started en masse under bozo after sandyhook. by that time, it was too late, as they had lost the house.
this is all indeed posturing. I would almost call it “political preening”
I don’t own a single semi-auto that would not accept a properly configured extended magazine...except maybe my old Marlin tube-feed .22....which already holds more than 10 rounds.
