At this rate, retirement is more of a fantasy than a reality for many people in this country.

About 42 percent of Americans have less than $10,000 saved for when they retire, according to a study by GoBankingRates released Tuesday.

"The No. 1 reason most people cited for not stashing more away was because they didn't earn enough to save, followed by the fact that they were already struggling to pay bills, GoBankRates said."

Wonder how many of these people have iphones, a big house, all the latest gadgets etc.... Sure, they were struggling to pay the bills because they didn't live within their means.

The answer is easy; the economy and middle class have been intentionally decimated during the 8 years under Obamessiah's evil reign. Millions of good paying jobs permanently "disappeared", on top of that ever increasing Obama Death-care taxes, medical premiums and copays intentionally drained millions upon millions of former middle class households of any cash reserves they may have had to pay for healthcare and other benifits for illegal aliens.

96 MILLION people were long term unemployed for 8 solid years, wanting to work but finding nothing. Their unemployment benifits totally used up with no hope of finding a job millions of American CITIZENS were forced into taking an early Social Security retirement just to survive. They didn't want to, they HAD TO!

Thus, you now have MILLIONS of American citizens forced to retire who have no financial cushion whatsoever because Obama his minions and the RIONS and demoncrats successfully "fundamentally transformed" America and redistributed the wealth of the middle class in order to fund and financially support his illegal alien buddies and other non-white, underclass of potential future demoncrat voters.

Frankly, after living here for 6 years, cities no longer do it for us at all. You can only go to the show, starbucks, pike place market, etc. so many times. I’m even building mountain biking and hiking trails on my property and just bought a 60” zero turn mower. It’s a whole different world from the city. And we absolutely LOVE it.

Dog park Pfffth. Our driveway is 14 mile long. Our dogs don’t even wear leashes, and love chasing deer turkeys, rabbits and tennis balls...

We’re in the process of selling our house in silicon valley, taking the money, buying a much cheaper house up north and banking the rest. We’ll both work, at least part-time, in the future. I get Medicare next year.

What part of Kentucky do you live? I have never been there, but it seems beautiful. Hopefully the liberals don’t discover it.

Several of my elderly pals have put reverse mortgages on their houses, which had been paid off,so they can live with better medical choices and some comfort until they die. I see a lot of unattended houses/yards on lots...often wonder if the remaining resident is in care, while the lender waits for them to die so they can claim their house. It’s so unfortunate that their children get deprived of inheritance from their parents when the family home is basically then owned by the lender.

I’ll call you and raise you one. The economic takedown of this country has actually been going on since GHWB, through Clinton, GWB, and finally DingleBarry.

The new world order plan was to break the USA, by traitorous politicians and international corporations, so that global governance could be obtained. This meant shipping US jobs overseas, bad trade deals, not enforcing the borders, gutting defense, unnecessary wars, and flooding nonAmericans into the country, all to break the will of traditional Americans.

Maybe Trump can change this, but the hour is certainly late.

the whole concept of retirement was created during the great depression to get older workers to step aside to open up jobs for younger ones.

It’s all bs

I find it to be anything but BS - I find it to be a highly recommended state...of course, the wife and I saved enough to be comfortable and have retirement income that is also sufficient for some comfort even w/o the savings.

If you enjoy what you are doing (which you should be or your doing something wrong) there is almost no benefit of quitting. It’s honestly very bad for you health.

I firmly believe this was on Hillary's agenda.

Yep, I'm draining my 401k as fast as I reasonably can while avoiding paying ridiculous taxes on it.

I believe it’s only a matter of time before the ever shrinking number of Responsible Citizens are forced at the point of the Federal Gun to support the idiots, freeloaders, and fools of society that vote for evil politicians.

One cannot even control their own destiny anymore without their interference into our personal matters.

There’s other ways to stay busy....but you are correct, if you love what you do, then keep on doing it. By the time we retired, we were both ready for changes and these days it hard to figure out how we had time to go to work...

That works, too. Beau has a Cabela’s card and we put just about everything on that to earn the points. He should own his own Cabela’s store by now! ;)

However, when I was on my own, I never charged things. Personal choice. Credit works if you have the discipline!

The smart plan is to be broke when you die, not when you retire...

There are 20, “dry” counties in Kentucky. Who’d a thunk it?
