A suburban Chicago gun show has banned the sale of AR-15s amid growing pressure spurred by the mass shooting at a Florida high school.
Organizers for DuPage County Fairgrounds gun show said Sunday that sale of the rifle was banned for the March and April gun shows, The Washington Post reported.
The Pioneer Valley Sportsmans Association, which has hosted the show for more than 40 years, said the decision was linked to the Parkland, Fla., school shooting.
We did the ban to try to calm the situation down and show them we are willing to work with them, Frank Cesare of the association said of protesters.
The club is waiting to see what the mood is like before they will decide if the ban is extended for the rest of the year, The Washington Post reported.
At the gun show inside the fairgrounds, buyers must show a firearm owners identification card or permit.
The semi-automatic AR-15 has been used in multiple mass shootings, including in Newtown, Conn.; San Bernardino, Calif.; Las Vegas and Sutherland Springs, Texas.
A new poll found that 61 percent of American voters support a nationwide ban on AR-15s.
Democratic senators have introduced legislation to ban assault weapons, a category they say includes the AR-15, but the idea is a non-starter with Republicans and the National Rifle Association.
The Florida state Senate rejected such a measure days in the weeks following the shooting.
Fudds?
Going full retard is not a good thing.
Cant stop em, just get the popcorn.
Not the slightest doubt.
Bunch of fudd cuck cowards.
As it’s at the DuPage County Fairgrounds, I strongly suspect some gubbermint weasel insisted that they do this as the price of retaining their event permit.
Where to begin?
I call BS on any poll that claims that 61% of Americans want to ban the AR-15. Do they poll far more RATS than Republicans, as is typical?
How do they word the “poll?”
“Do you want to ban the AR-15 assault weapon?”
“Do you want to ban the AR-15 semiautomatic rifle?”
Those questions will get vastly different responses....it’s all in the wording.
And then there’s Frank Cesare, the clueless one....
.....”Show them we’re willing to work with them.”
BS. You can’t work with the gun grabbers. They want to ban and grab EVERYTHING, so they can force THEIR way on EVERYONE, and kill us if we won’t comply. No thank-you!
I was there Sunday, no I did not see an assembled AR-15 but parts galore and lowers enough to keep an armory busy for a month assembling them. Plenty of assembled pistols damned near enough to meet the monthly needs of the Democratic voters in Chicago.
Ought to be a real quiet, under-attended “gun show” ...
That would leave some handguns, a knife collector, and a woodcarver.
Probably not the smartest move that they could make.
No surprise Illinois is a communist state run by criminal gangs.
They are about to learn a very painful lesson.
Hey Chicago gun enthusiasts - come on down to Indianapolis for our gun show. It’s twice a year at the fairgrounds and is one of the largest in the country. You’ll find all the AR-15s you would ever want to see along with any other firearms related products you may be looking for. Not too many deals at gun shows these days but they are still great for buying the parts necessary to build your own rifle and for finding good cheap range ammo. I also always have a great time just socializing with all the other gun enthusiasts.
AS I recall not selling AR-15’s at the PA gun show in Harrisburg PA didn’t work out so well a couple years ago, ATTENDANCE WAS WAY DOWN!
So, we buy AK’s then.
>>>show them we are willing to work with them<<<
They get to pick which Cattle Car they get to ride in.
And Mini 14’s and 30’s
I bet there will be a LOT of info traded about who has what to sell - thinking of selling an AK-47 I have before long....
