President Trump issued the second pardon of his presidency Friday to former Navy sailor Kristian Saucier, who learned the news while driving a garbage truck, the only job he could find with a felony conviction.
Saucier was sentenced to a year in prison during the 2016 campaign for taking pictures inside a nuclear submarine. Trump invoked his case repeatedly on the campaign trail, saying he was ruined for doing nothing compared to Hillary Clinton.
Still, Trump allowed Saucier to serve his full prison sentence. He was released in September and returned to the Vermont home he shares with his wife Sadie and their two-year-old daughter.

Trump may be (At last!) putting the pieces on the “game board”.
You know, when I was in the nuclear power program, we were stifled on our studies--everything classified, had to study in the building only. After a year of college I knew better, when to the local college and found practically the same books, the same drawings, and did my study on campus and restaurants. Seriously, so much is so excessively over classified that it is ridiculous.
And yes, I understand the need and value of security. I've worked in plenty of varying environments, some with incredible security, would never violate security, nor tolerate anyone that did.
But what this kid did was never serious and should have been handled within NJP. It was instead persecution. Shame on the people that did this.
so good....
LOL So anyone gets to decide what is classified? It was classified. He knew he wasn't supposed to do it.
You are telling me that discipline is really that lax in the Navy today, that everyone gets to decide which order they get to follow, and which one we ignore. I didn’t realize the Navy had changed that much. I guess that explains the problems in the Pacific. It used to be in the Navy an order is an order.
What does this have to do with it? I'm not racist and if middle eastern, big deal. Never been a factor in my hiring, firing, associations, or friendships. If Islamic, sure, I'd have a problem with him being in a role requiring a security clearance in the first place.
I don't doubt a lot is overclassified. But I still don't understand how the system you advocate that every sailor should decide for himself what is classified can possibly work.
Nickcarraway, what is your problem here? Again, did you serve? Enlisted or officer? Bad experience? What gives?
I just wonder if people are letting him off the hook because he’s white. He disobeyed order, and he violated protocol about classified info. It wasn’t his decision to make if it should have been classified or not.
Search? Also on sidebar!
I didn’t serve in the Navy. Were you allowed to disobey orders when you were in the Navy. I just don’t get everyone celebrating something that could harm our country.
PRESIDENT Trump, LOL, knows.
What’s done is done. I just think there are a lot of defense attorney’s and spies licking their lips today.
The problem is the heavy handedness here. This was an indiscretion what warranted non-judicial punishment, not courts martial. That is the problem. And if I recall correctly, the command, his supervisors, and co-workers all came to his defense. This was an injustice. Completely. So, yes, I celebrate his pardon, I truly hope he gets reinstated with back pay and seniority, etc. The Navy needs to make him whole as best they can.
One rule for the privileged elite and another for the peasant classes cannot continue.
One pardon is going to harm our country? Now you’re just being silly. This won’t harm our country.
You sure are on an anti-Trump crusade lately.
“everyone produces garbage!”
Especially Democrats in Bernie Sanders’ state!
This. +1
You know, it baffles me that a few want to argue with your volunteering your informed opinion.
I might disagree with you but I did no Submarine service and having your opinion from that background might temper my opinion or make it more intelligently presented.
Thanks for providing it.
I have built, operated within, designed aspects of and serviced SAPF standard and similar secure facilities for the United States armed forces.
Yes, Yes and again Yes!!! Thank heavens for Donald Trump.
