Learned a lot about the Zulu by reading
“Washing of the Spears”,the series Shaka Zulu, and assorted articles.
I know nothing of contemporary Zulus.
I am white, western European by ancestry and American by birth and the grace of Gof.

If you are a Zulu, don’t piss off your wife. They have a nasty habit of putting a couple of gallons of cooking oil on, and at the first hint of smoke pouring it on you if you have hit them or cheated on them. I do like Zulus. Most honest of the Bantu Sub-species. The Xhosa, count your fingers after shaking their hand.
True story: My parents had bought a cliff side plot with the most spectacular view of J’burg. My dad would go down to the mines and get workers to come help. They were Zulus. Would make a weeks mine pay in a day. My dad picks up this SOB that is huge. I mean NFL lineman huge. So this guy was lazy on the job so my dad tells him, just go to the kitchen and prepare lunch for the guys with the other women. He was having none of that. Picked up a sledgehammer in each hand and went beast mode. Dad gave him a productivity bonus. Another weeks pay in front of the rest of the crew. From then on he was our foreman. His name was Samson. Very apt IMHO. He even saved me from a Rinkhals bite once. He threw a spade about 20 yards and decapitated the thing as it was rearing up to bite me. Lets just say his family had a GREAT Christmas that year.
