So why is Donald Trump sticking it to New Jersey?
Because NJ is a liberal hell hole.
To: GuavaCheesePuff
NJ will never vote for him.
Its a classic case of punish your enemies and reward your friends.
Exactly what Trump is doing.

Meanwhile, New Jersey taxpayers send billions of dollars more to Washington than they get back in services, and his policies would only make that discrepancy worse.
I thought Libs liked wealth redistribution?

Because he’s from NY—and whiners like this are from NJ.

"It seems very clear that a guiding principle of the Trump administration is to punish people who didn't support him," said Matthew HaleAs a New Jerseyan, I don't have any problem with that.

Actually, New Jersey is sticking to New Jersey, and Trump sees no reason to pick up the tab.

The question is
"Why is New Jersey sticking it to Donald Trump?".
How many electoral votes from New Jersey went to Donald Trump?
To: Flick Lives
Yup. They like paying higher taxes.
Why should taxpayers from Red states subsidize them?
AS long as they keep electing Democrats, they get what they deserve.

Clinton won NJ 55-41.
Trump did well in the Jersey Shore and northwestern NJ (Morris-Warren)
Trump did well in some parts of central Jersey.

Because it is a totally corrupt state, that's why. Look at Menendez and Christie, for God's sake.
Well, it was not the government that built the rail tunnels under the river in the first place, but private enterprise. Of course, as soon as the government took it over, the maintenance went way, way down. And now they want to build supplementary tunnels at about ten times the cost it took the private sector to build the first ones, with environmental impact reports, this and that mitigation, union and politician featherbedding, ad nauseam, piled on top.
Not to mention, thanks to the NYC governments emissions rules from two centuries ago and federal high-water-mark clearance requirements, it is nigh impossible to build bridges across the Hudson River.

Just another Blue Northeastern sh*thole.
One that’s been taxed and run for decades by the Democrats into the ground.
No reason to reward their liberalism and and extravagant profligacy.

A president must not only reward his friends but punish his political foes. Trump is in the process of deepening his support in the industrial rustbelt states that put him in the White House. Why should he reward states like NJ & NY who heavily favor Hillary and her paranoid brand of politics?

The tax laws are applied unilaterally evenly across all states. New Jersey is sticking it to itself and blaming it on Trump.
