Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., argued that her family’s claim to Native American ancestry is an indelible part of who she is — something that can never be taken away.
Warren defended herself on NBC’s “Meet the Press with Chuck Todd” Sunday morning when asked what she thought about taking an easily accessible DNA test, such as those offered by 23andMe or Ancestry, to settle the ongoing controversy over her heritage.
Rather than address that question specifically, Warren told a story about how her mother and father, born and raised in Oklahoma, met as teenagers and fell head-over-heels in love. Her father’s family was bitterly opposed to their relationship, she said, because her mother was part Native American, but the couple eloped and persevered.
“That’s the story that my brothers and I all learned from our Mom and our Dad, from our grandparents and all of our aunts and uncles. It’s a part of me, and nobody is going to take that part of me away — not ever,” Warren said.

I think she has probably already done a DNA test and the results showed zero Native American blood. Otherwise she would be willing to take a test to prove she is correct.

The Ancestry.com commercial where the lady says “When people asked me my nationality I always answered Hispanic” makes me nuts. You’re nationality is American gordita! Hispanic is not a nationality!

If she’s got any Native American DNA, it ain’t much - that’s for sure. IF it is above 0.00%.
If she was smart, she’d run and then after the hype and hype, take the test and show she has it.
But I dont think she is smart or telling the truth. So it wont help her.
See, her cheekbones are slightly red! Proof!

Oddly enough the Old Testament even talks about the Seventh Generation being in possession of clean blood if there was no adulteration of that blood from the original point in time. It’s amazing how that 7 thing works out good luck Lee. Also Noah’s Ark clean animals went in and groups of how many? It wasn’t 2 it was 7. The magic 7.

That's OK—it's law school, y'know...
The reason she doesn’t want the test is clear she’s afraid of the truth. However it’s not as cut and dry I imagine as we might believe.
What probably happened originally is probably close to what she said: her father’s family didn’t like the idea he wanted to marry a woman who wasn’t a pure WASP like he was. But the problem for Warren is that the romantic story her parents told her, while the truth in some respects, is probably not sustainable or supportable with genetic evidence.
In other words, while her mother wasn’t a pure enough WASP for her paternal grandparents, she probably didn’t have much more American Indian heritage than you or I. And this “heritage” was further diluted in Warren herself.
So she finds herself in a sticky wicket. Because she has this romantic story she’s told for decades about her parents (which is probably mostly true) but she’s relied too heavily on it to advance her career and now there exists a way to either prove or disprove her story. But she doesn’t want to go down that road because she knows all she has is a story of some bigoted WASP family who didn’t want their son to marry a non WASP, which is really nothing in comparison to the romantic picture she’s painted about her parents and herself. And besides, if that real ugly truth comes out, then those who still vote for her in that state will be turned off, as there are still probably some of her supporters who would still not want their daughters or sons not marrying a non-WASP from the region of New England.
Couldn’t happen to a nicer person though. Hope she drowns in her hypocrisy.
