From the GOP with love -- Trump gets gift from Russia panel (CNN Headline Implies Whitewash)

Donald Trump's friends on Capitol Hill have delivered.

The President is now wielding a powerful new weapon in his war of credibility with America's spy agencies over their view that Russia helped put him in the White House, after House Republicans suddenly shuttered their probe into election meddling.

"THE HOUSE INTELLIGENCE COMMITTEE HAS, AFTER A 14 MONTH LONG IN-DEPTH INVESTIGATION, FOUND NO EVIDENCE OF COLLUSION OR COORDINATION BETWEEN THE TRUMP CAMPAIGN AND RUSSIA TO INFLUENCE THE 2016 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION," Trump wrote in an exuberant tweet on Monday night.

The committee stunned Washington most by taking direct aim at the assessment by US spy chiefs that President Vladimir Putin engineered the Russian election meddling operation specifically to hurt Hillary Clinton and benefit Trump.

That finding squares with Trump's view that the Russia story is nothing but a hoax and a witch hunt designed by Clinton sympathizers to explain the Democratic nominee's shock election defeat in 2016. Trump supporters are certain to use the finding, issued with the imprimatur of a House committee, to argue that it is time for America to move on from the endless recriminations of the election, which have cast an unmovable cloud over Trump's White House.

While Monday's report is clearly a partisan, political document -- committee Democrats were not briefed before its release -- it is all but certain to be used by Trump to discredit intelligence assessments and to proclaim his innocence. But it also comes as special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation appears to be accelerating -- and it's unlikely to affect his work.

Details of the Republican conclusions contradict an account laid out by Mueller of a campaign by Russian entities to disparage Clinton and support Trump, shown in the indictment of 13 Russians issued last month.

I keep reading the headlines about this “GOP committee”.

It’s a 13-member bipartisan committee; 6 Repubs and 6 Dems with a chairman.

The published findings represent the opinion of the entire committee, hot just the GOP half.

So, can we stop with the partisan spin?

Besides, if they had uncovered anything serious, Schiff would have leaked it to CNN weeks ago...

‘But it also comes as special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation appears to be accelerating — and it’s unlikely to affect his work.”

Mueller was appointed to look into collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia. There is no collusion. Case closed.

Now appoint a special counsel to look into Hillary Clinton and DNC collusion with Russia and the Super Delegates. Look at every one of them and their finances to see where their money was coming from.

I was listening to NPR on the way to work this morning. It's hard to believe, but they had a Democrat from the House Intelligence Committee, refuting the claims of this draft report. I'm sorry, but I forget the name.

The NPR interviewer asked the Congressman about the collusion, and they actually cited the time that Trump was on the campaign trail, and he brought up the Hillary Clinton "missing e-mails." I forget how he brought up the Russians into the conversation, but Trump suggested "maybe Russia could hack into Hillary's email server and find the emails?"

This comment drew plenty of laughs, and anyone could tell that Trump was joking around when he suggested it, whether there in person or if you watched or heard the audio. There were no missing context cues, no subtle innuendo, no "winks" of the eye...it was a joke.

The Democrat Congress person on NPR, with as much seriousness as he could muster, brought up Trump's remark as proof that he enlisted the Russians to help his campaign! What sane person would even suggest something like that?

Just imagine how more Trump could accomplish if it wasn’t for all these targeted attacks.
Not to mention the msm 24/7 smear job and misinformation /propaganda.

Lots of disappointed rinos. I don’t know Mccain’s mental state but I hope he was told and understood the news. In fact, I hope that’s the last thing he understood.

CNN persists in a lie. A nutty conspiracy theory to explain the loss by the Wicked Bitch Of The Left.

She lost because she’s corrupt AF and people are tired of her.

The same Rats will tell you that Hitlery Rotten Clinton’s private server in a toilet was “secure” and none of her State Department communications were compromised.

Of course, we will never know because she wiped her server to cover up her guilt in selling that information.

See too, GOP rep: We're going to show the CIA "got it wrong" on Russia trying to help Trump - The Hill

Seems to me the Committee intends to back up its controversial contention with evidence.

"I have spent a couple days out to the CIA actually reading the raw intelligence; actually reading what we were basing this on," Stewart, a member of the intelligence panel, said on CNN. "And when we release this report, we're going to be able to show, you know what, the CIA just got it wrong."

... "And we're just going to have to show people they were wrong on this. They just misinterpreted some very key intelligence and drew the wrong conclusion."

The fake news media and the Democrats had their minds made up over a year and a half ago: Trump is guilty of colluding with Russia to get elected President.

No evidence to the contrary will persuade them to revisit that conclusion. Their hatred of the President is so strong it overrides their rational faculties. You are never going to get these people to give Trump the benefit of the doubt.

We have partisanship in this country and contrary to the claims forwarded by our opponents it isn’t necessarily a bad thing. In the end, the voters will get to settle the controversy surrounding the so-called Russiagate saga.

-- The fake news media and the Democrats had their minds made up over a year and a half ago: Trump is guilty of colluding with Russia to get elected President. --

I don't think they are resolved to that as a fact, I think they KNOW it is a false accusation, and are arguing in bad faith.

They are resolved only to persist in this, as long as Trump is in power. I agree with you, "No evidence to the contrary will persuade them to revisit that conclusion." My only difference is that you credit them with a lapse in reasoning that puts them to the wrong conclusion. I believe they know they are perpetrating a falsehood using bogus logic and burden shifting. At this point it is up to Trump to prove he did not collude. It is impossible to disprove a negative. By shifting the burden of proof, his detractors are able to maintain guilt by accusation forever.

I believe a majority of voters lacks the metal acumen to see this cheat at that "theoretical" level, even if explained. Not a problem, I think Trump's personality and successes will draw people to his side. So again I agree with you, "the voters will get to settle the controversy," and no question in my mind, the press position is in the minority. Was too on electing crooked Hillary, and pretty much everything else.

"The indictment alleges that the [13] Russian conspirators wanted to promote discord in the United States and undermine public confidence in democracy", according to Rosenstein. There is no conflict between the indictment and this conclusion by the House committee regarding collusion.

But, this new report will not stop Mueller because he is not investigating collusion. He is investigating any Repub he can bully into sitting in his office.
