As a first step, I would like to challenge Sen. Rubio to publically explain why any American civilian actually needs to own a military assault weapon.
The 2nd Amendment of our Constitution consists of 26 words written in arcane language that has caused much confusion down through the years. Since the amendment was written at a time in our history where virtually every home contained a flintlock musket and gun ownership was an accepted, normal part of everyday life, its reasonable to believe that, rather than dealing with individual gun ownership, the 2nd Amendment was intended to protect the right of each state to have its own well regulated militia.
However, the NRA has taken the last 14 words of the amendment, The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed, strictly out of context, to promote a pro-gun agenda that has been amazingly successful. The NRA is recognized as the most powerful and influential government lobbying group in the U.S. They have bought and/or intimidated many politicians including our own Sen. Marco Rubio, who has taken millions from the NRA into adopting and promoting their agenda, which includes the following:

No rights are absolute including the right to keep and bear arms.
Unfortunately the 2nd is often treated as if it were a vague suggestion rather than a right. Many people act as if they can pick and choose which rights are rights and which are just ideas.
This is a much stronger right to bear arms in the Constitution than there is a right to vote.
As a first step. I will call this guy out as a liar. The AR-15 is not an assault rifle.
Ergo, this guy is a liar, or an idiot, or both.
Arguing with such a specimen is a waste of time
The phrase “being necessary to the security of a free State” is as important as “shall not vbe infringed”. It’s all about Freedom.
Ignorant Question.
little date problem here. The NRA was founded in 1871 by Northern Republicans to lobby Congress to pass the 14th and 15th Amendments. I might add by Northern Republicans to counter the Southern Democrats and their KKK. It might also amuse you the MLK and Malcom X were registered Republicans.
Arcane language that leads to confusion?
Uh, where it says “the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed”
Pretty easy to understand IMO.
All I know from history is that the NRA was founded because of the abysmal shooting of Union troops during the War of Secession. I don’t know the actual date of founding but it was of course after the war.
Yup. They’ll need to take the bullets first.
(trying my best Daniel Boone voice:)" Have you ever experienced a military assault by a b'ar? That's why.
“Shall not be infringed”. The Collectivists are too dense and stupid to understand that phrase.
Only in the 1st is the free practice of religion is absolute.
Looking at the comments following the article, it appears that the author, “a former police officer and a retired associate professor of criminal justice”, pretty much both demonstrated that he has failed at both professions, and had his a$$ handed to him by informed citizens.
Still making the arguments that were shot down in the Heller case.
Of course there’s no comment section. That communist clown would be torn a new A-hole real quick.
LOL great insult. You're a poet.
Have you considered a liberal arts degree, maybe a master's in fine arts? :D (sarcasm there)
