For a collapse so soon, I think there can be only one answer - shoddy construction.

That projects was obviously not “shovel ready”.

When they get to the bottom of it there will be big city government corruption. unscrupulous contractors, and shoddy workmanship and materials.

And according to the media, it will somehow be Trump's Fault.

And endless liability lawsuits, if not criminal charges if there was provable fraud (e.g. swapping out expensive materials for inferior ones.)

For a collapse so soon, I think there can be only one answer - shoddy construction.

Or, more likely, shoddy design/engineering.

I just heard the MD Fire Chief (?) say “this is a national tragedy”.

Tragedy, yes. National??

I’d like to see a sample of the steel reinforcement material used and the results of the breaks on their concrete test cylinders.

Trump’s fault. This wouldn’t have happened under Obama. [/sarc.]

Yep, they have to say “National” to blame it on Trump.

You can expect more and more of this in the future, mainly as a result of coddling children and allowing them to be children until in their 30's.

When you have Engineers that are in their 30's and have lived in their momma's basement their whole life, never working, never going outside, the only knowledge they have is purely theoretical and the only hands on experience they have ever had in anything involved a computer screen and their pants down.

Poor quality materials is also a possibility - although the two often go hand in hand.

Wow ... eight cars. The pics I’ve seen show 4, may be 5 visible ... 2 of those only have crushed.

And stupid builders ... a suspension bridge usually has suspension in place before a large section is installed.
