"Are you being served" was a British sitcom (from the 1970s) that lightly touched on the subject and featured a prominent character who was portrayed as probably homosexual. My favorite,by far,was Mr Mash, followed by Miss Brahams (particularly in the earlier episodes) and Mr Granger.

My favorite,by far,was Mr Mash, followed by Miss Brahams (particularly in the earlier episodes) and Mr Granger. A few months back I bought the DVD set for the series, and my wife and I watch one every week or so. My favorite is Mr. Lucas, but Mr Humphries is often entertaining.
Mr Mash is also funny, though he doesn't get as much screen time as the rest.
