Turkish-backed forces have taken full control of the centre of the Syrian-Kurdish city of Afrin.

Fighters waved flags and tore down the statue of a legendary Kurdish figure after claiming the city centre on Sunday.

The two-month Turkish-led operation aimed to rid the border region of a Kurdish militia that Turkey considers a terrorist group.

The Key wording is: "Turkish-led forces" and "Turkish Backed Forces".

Al Jazzera is a little more specific with this: Turkish forces and Free Syrian Army capture Afrin city

Pretty much the US policy code for Islamic Terrorist Foreign Fighters.

Interesting the wholesale civilian slaughter with these guys in there with the Terrorist Turks.

Seems tho only way out is the corridors the Russians set up, and we hear nothing about in the news.

The Kurds should have taken the deal, now everybody dies.

They’re going into Iraq after PKK next
Wholesale onslaught against our Kurdish allies
Short sighted US strategy to use the Kurds vs ISIS without considering the long term consequences of creating a vacuum and who would fill it
Yet again

A travesty that America allowed the Turks to do this without a hard ultimatum that it would result in the immediate expulsion of Turkey from NATO (or the American withdrawal from NATO if the weaklings wouldn’t back the US). America and Canada have no business being allied with an islamic dictatorship. Turkey in NATO goes far beyond temporary support for a group of combatants in the middle east.

What will happen is that the USA will not stand by its allies and the world will then know that it does not pay to be an American ally. In contrast they will look at how Putin saved Assad’s bacon.

a miserly action in spite of the tough stance. Concerns that the doveish hawks are not worried about the Kurds is bleeding into the oval office. A non sensical statement, I know, but it parlays into the inaction from military leaders on behalf of the Kurds
