Houston, Texas has a large South African population as does Los Angeles. Some I arrived here in the late 1980’s or early 1990’s and some have moved here more recently.
How do you know all this?
Many of those who first settled in California have now left and moved to Texas.
It was pretty easy to move here in the 1980s ( and many came here even earlier than that !) and the early 1990s. And the Rand was just about on par, with the American dollar, in the early '80s. Now it isn't worth much at all.
