The Smithsonian Institution has relocated its official portrait of former first lady Michelle Obama to a larger space in the National Portrait Gallery because of a high volume of visitors.
The portrait, by Baltimore-based artist Amy Sherald, was unveiled last month, alongside one of former President Obama by Kehinde Wiley.
Visitors have poured into the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C., since the Obamas portraits were installed.
About 176,000 people visited the museum last month, the largest number in a month in three years, CNN reported.
The former first lady paid a visit to 2-year-old Smithsonian visitor Parker Curry earlier this month, after a photo of Curry staring at the portrait went viral.

It was only mentioned as an aside by Amy in the follow-up episode, with the comment that the painting should then be worth a lot more after the artist’s suicide.
Wouldn’t the broom closet be good enough for any of their pictures?
Ahh, I didn’t see that episode for some reason...or don’t remember it.

No offense, but those pictures are pretty freaky, and most everyone loves a freak show. If something is just plain strange, lets face it, people will be attracted to it.
