Parkland Survivor: ‘When They Give Us That Inch, That Bump Stock Ban, We Will Take a Mile’
Breitbart ^ | 26 Mar 2018 | AWR Hawkins

Posted on 03/26/2018 11:15:32 AM PDT by Cheerio

During Saturday’s student march for gun control, Parkland shooting survivor Delany Tarr made clear that she and other gun controllers plan to parlay a bump stock ban into numerous other gun controls.

Tarr spoke to the crowd and Think Progress quoted her saying, “When they give us that inch, that bump stock ban, we will take a mile.”

Tarr’s statement exposes the threat to freedom tied to the bump stock ban from day one. After all, bump stocks do not convert semiautomatic firearms into automatic ones, so banning them as if they do opens the door to banning numerous other devices that do not convert the actions of semiautomatic either.

Former ATF gun tech chief Rick Vasquez sounded this alarm in January when he warned that a bump stock will lead to other bans.

He told the Military Arms Channel, “So ATF’s been directed to write a regulation with the strength of a law.” He said the advance notice copy of the new rule makes clear that the ATF’s new regulation will ban “any device that automatically resets a firearm and enhances the rate of fire.” He added, “They are trying to target binary triggers, [bump stock] devices, and other devices, but that is such broad language, can I take that to a Gatling gun? …So now you start stretching this [new] definition, and who is going to decide what the [standard] rate of fire is?” In other words, Vasquez is saying a this new ban simply opens the door to “stretching” the language to cover other devices, as the ruling class sees fit.

The truth is that the murderer in Vegas would have likely killed more had he not used a bump stock. BTW, does anybody know what ever did really happen in Vegas? It has been nearly six months since the most deadly mass shooting in US history and no full accounting yet. Things that make me go hmmmm.

I care less about bump stocks than I do about separation of powers. Even the Holder/Lynch Justice Department did not believe that it had the authority to ban bump stocks through regulation, because the definition of “machine gun” under the National Firearms Act clearly does not include bump stocks. Yet, for the purpose of political expediency, the Sessions Justice Department has simply chosen to disregard the statutory language and ban bump stocks by executive fiat by defining the word “automatically” out of existence.

Congress makes the law, not the President or the Attorney General. I don’t trust any President or Attorney General with that power, Trump and Sessions included.

"And the rise of 3D printing will make the ban of bump stocks superfluous."

I wonder if there is a 3D design of a bump stock which uses, for example, a spring from a standard AR 30 round magazine? Everything but the spring should be a cinch.

A design that uses the buffer spring might also be of interest.

All this melodrama about a bump stock.

It's not about banning bump stocks. It's about banning anything related to guns that they can get away with banning. It's about promoting the meme that guns cause crime. It's about disarming YOU ... yes, YOU PERSONALLY. The issue is never the issue. The issue is always The Revolution.

That little faggot Hogg may not have the guts to go around personally raiding guns from peaceable citizens, but he'll have no qualms about sending armed, uniformed, agents of the State to do it.

Nobody knows. The thing is, bump stocks are irrelevant and I think it’s hilarious that this little twit thinks she has any power at all. The real world is going to be a harsh awakening for these kids who believe the world revolves around them.

Most of these Parkland kids will be out of school in another year and a half and their media anointed moral authority will evaporate faster then an ice cube in a micro wave. They won't be needed anymore. Their ''outrage'' won't be ''cool'' and ''edgy''.

And the rise of 3D printing will make the ban of bump stocks superfluous.

Was trying to explain that on another forum over the weekend. The ignorance and refusal to face reality was stunning.

About two decades ago I watched a friend fabricate and assemble a working machine gun in a privately-owned shop over the course of a weekend. It was an unaesthetic contraption... but it fired a constant barrage with fairly good accuracy. It was a demonstration that with the right tools and know-how, a gun can be made beyond the scrutiny given commercial weapons manufacturers.

Within the next decade 3D printing with metal alloys and laser sintering is going to be available to practically anyone. If a person wants an AR-15, he or she can GET an AR-15 and the government will be none the wiser.

Obviously their end game is total confiscation.

I humbly suggest we should stop playing along with game. Arguing about the precise definition of “assault weapon” as affected by legislation at various levels of government is simply negotiating the details of how we lose this game.

If we let them continue to re-define and whittle away, eventually we’ll get to the end game. Their end game will something along the lines of, “All guns are assault weapons!”

But they aren’t ready to be so bold, yet. They know it’s a counterproductive approach, for now. Which is precisely why we need to make it a meme and hang it around their necks. And in so doing, make the assault weapon smokescreen obsolete.

Assault or not is a matter of human intention. I can assault you with a .25 Baby Browning, and I can defend you with a SCAR.

All guns are assault weapons, if that’s the intention behind their use. Ditto for defensive. WE have nothing lose and everything to gain by shortcutting straight to the end game of the enemy, before they’re ready. Deployed prematurely, it will destroy their efforts.

If they want to ban one they want to ban them all, so let’s get this argument centered on reality.

All guns are assault weapons. Let them swallow that, repeat that, and let them die on THAT hill.
