As schools across the nation wrestle with how to keep firearms off campus, Liberty University has opened a new gun range for students to brush up on their shooting skills.
The range, built at cost of $3.2 million, opened on Monday and is currently available only to students of the Christian school in Lynchburg, Virginia, WSET-TV reports.
But it will open to the public and law enforcement officers following commencement in May.
"What's unique about this facility is it's the only range on any college campus that has venues for all Olympic shooting sports. The rest of the world is moving away from the Second Amendment and the shooting sports," Brad Butler, a planning coordinator at Liberty, said in a recent interview.

Sweet!!!! (-:
Thanks for sharing! This is the BEST story of today!
Hillsdale also has a shooting center.
Just remember good hearing protection.
Good for Liberty University.
Not real concerned about maniac killers on that campus.
What?
No Manufactured Crisis with crisis actors happening there :-)
Sweet!
Lucky kids....
And eye pro, even more!
You can get hearing aids. Eyes, not so much.
I’m sure people will be flocking to use it when it’s opened for the public after commencement. Great way to raise funds for the school also. The “wienie” schools out to try it and give their students a break on tuition - yeah, sure!
Good for Liberty!!!
“”Hillsdale also has a shooting center.””
I was thinking about them when I read this - great!!!
“”What?””
Not funny....my husband can’t hear anything after years spent at the ranges and flying... He said “huh” to everything long before he lost his hearing and I told him some day it would be for real - that some day came!! Has hearing aids and won’t wear them, has the TV volume cranked up high, has a headset for the TV and won’t use it...and it doesn’t do any good to say “I told you so” - LOL!
"The great body of our citizens shoot less as times goes on. We should encourage rifle practice among schoolboys, and indeed among all classes, as well as in the military services by every means in our power. Thus, and not otherwise, may we be able to assist in preserving peace in the world... The first step in the direction of preparation to avert war if possible, and to be fit for war if it should come is to teach men to shoot!"President Theodore Roosevelt
I work at a shooting range, and around many older shooters. They’re all as deaf as a post. I know exactly what you mean.
I thought my wife was hard of hearing as she would never respond to me. So I did a test. She’s in the kitchen facing the stove, and from the living room I ask “Honey - what’s for dinner?” No answer. So I go to the door of the kitchen and ask again - no answer. So I get right behind her and ask her.
