Lauderhill, which was founded decades ago as the home of Jackie Gleason’s Inverrary Country Club, has become its own little third world country.
Many years ago the town honored the actor James Earl Jones. When he was presented the honorary plaque it was engraved “James Earl Ray”. Of course the city government immediately called the owner of the trophy shop a racist who obviously wanted to sabotage their little ceremony......until the owner produced the city’s purchase order which explicitly read “James Earl Ray.”
D’oh!
Wow, really? What a great story.

LOL. My cable company once set up an internet account for a fellow named Hisler but one little typo changed it to Hitler which became his default email address. He got 2 years of free cable service in the settlement.
I remember when Oakland PK Blvd ended at the entrance to Inverary,Gleasons home.
Did T&R telco work in the house.
Te entire area was brand new in the 70’s and is now pretty much a gehto.
Its what happens when property borders the Hood with Lauderhill and Laud lakes does.
