Scary, hot new drug called ‘spirit molecule’

Johns Hopkins studies effects of DMT, including encounters with ‘autonomous beings’

WASHINGTON – It’s one of the most popular new hallucinogenic drugs being smoked by young people around the world, with many users reporting “spiritual encounters” with entities that sound a lot like demons.

And now, Johns Hopkins University is studying the alarming effects of DMT, or Dimethyltryptamine, asking volunteers who have taken the drug about encounters they may have had with “seemingly autonomous beings or entities.”

One researcher characterized DMT as a “spirit molecule.”

So bizarre are the effects that users have described crossing into another world and seeing “machine elves,” aliens or cartoon cats. One woman reported being swarmed by apparently alive Slinky toys.

The research team is headed by Roland Griffiths, a behavioral biologist with a history of studying psychedelic substances that produce “mystical-type and near-death experiences.”

“a 3 day long nightmare.”

I’ll fight the urge to remind everyone how long Jeff Sessions has been AG.

“DMT was around in the 70’s and the word was that it would give you a 3 day long nightmare.”

DMT was known as the Buisness man’s high because of the short duration of the trip. Are you sure you wern’t thinking of STP?

Not all entities are derivatives of what the mind has experienced.

We live in a mysterious world of which we see in part, and that only darkly, because we are imprisoned in the jail of our senses. But as Hindu god-men, shamans and practicing occultists such as Carl Jung know, there are all about us and even here on earth powerful, intelligent beings that move so fast we cannot not see them, who emit rays outside the spectrum of our vision and communicate among themselves on a wavelength beyond what man can hear and apprehend, thus they can observe us, inflate our most disordered passions and influence our dreams and thoughts for good or bad. They can also, by way of telepathy or automatic writing, transmit through someone like Nietzsche or Carl Jung teachings from the demonic realm.

According to the highly celebrated Jung, Philemon, a winged, horned demon, supervised and inspired the writing of the "Seven Sermons to the Dead." Jung described the occasion like this:

"The whole house was....crammed full of spirits. They were packed deep right up to the door, and the air was so thick I could hardly breathe...Then it began to flow out of me, and in the course of three evenings the thing (Septem Sermones ad Mortuos) was written." (Jung relates how his soul departed into the timeless realm)...the mystical land of the dead (and) soon after the.....'dead' appeared to me and the result was the Septem Sermones." (To Hell and Back, Maurice S. Rawlings, M.D., p.143)

German actor Curt Jürgen describes his horrifying NDE:

"...I had a feeling that life was ebbing from me. I felt powerful sensations of dread(then suddenly everything) turned a glowing red. I saw twisted faces grimacing as they stared down at me (I tried to defend myself but) could no longer shut out the frightful truth: beyond the faces dominating this fiery world were faces of the damned. I had a feeling of despair....the sensation of horror was so great it choked me. Obviously I was in Hell itself (and then suddenly) the black silhouette of a human figure began to draw near...a woman...with lipless mouth and in her eyes an expression that sent icy shudders down my back. She stretched out her arms...and pulled me by an irresistible force (into) a world filled with....sounds of lamentation....I asked the figure...who she was. A voice answered: "I am death." (German actor Curt Jürgen's, To Hell and Back, pp. 76-77)

“Dumb article, and this is not a new drug.”

I remember DMT being around when I was a Hippie, over 40 years ago!

I dreamed I was in a Hollywood movie, and I was the star of that movie, a long haired, overfed, leaping gnome.

Ok, where do I get it and how much does it cost. /s

LOL

BION, my acid dealer ran out of the big bottles (WM) for several months.

I had to go to ... ahem .... other “sources” (Walgreen’s - there was a special on online orders to store). Good price.

I like the bottles of 500 of smaller (325 mg)

(Yes, i know the song, too)

Had to stop taking OTC allergy medication with Decongestants. Some of them have a big “D” on the package. Stays on the shelf for me.

Always had these really bad, vivid dreams.

My mother, RIP, told me the same thing, Family physiology, I suppose.

Now, when they say on TV “vivid dreams” I understand why they sanitized it.

If you're having nightmares and taking allergy medication, look to see if it has a decongestant component.

That’s all for Medical Minute. Now, an advertisement for Jack in the Box.

Thanks.
Yes this is hardly new. ( I do drug counseling and recall the 1960’s, met those exact folks to which you refer. Also a Libertarian, and I help pick of the pieces when (some) people, fly too close to sun.)
>More on the mushroom/peyote end of the spectrum, and apparently totally unlike the speed-based (MDA et al) hallucinogen’s. (But, from what I hear, that doesn’t even begin to capture it.)
Dose is roughly 5mg, and is highly variable.
-There is not a lot of DMT floating around, it’s a niche specialty item in large measure.
>In public clinical practice, what I’m seeing way too much of now are the Adderall/Ritalin people (Scary!), followed by the usual alcohol + benzodiazepines, but... a distinct drop-off of opiates (last 3 years down 100%) and the hallucinogen misusers have remained steady at a tiny percentage.
The upside to hallucinogens is they are not addictive, and only appeal to a small percentage of all user’s.
The downside is, they are extremely powerful.

DMT is not new. It’s not even relatively new.

DMT was first synthesized in 1931.

Fifty years ago, DMT was known as the Businessman’s Trip because it only ran for a few hours, as opposed to the much longer trip created by LSD.
