If candidate Trump was the gold standard, then President Trump seems to qualify as more Never-Trump than does Bill Kristol.
It is fun, and useful, to analyze which bad guys are less bad in Syria. But the Trump of today is absolutely not the Trump of the campaign trail when it comes to Syria.

If Trump has experienced some neo-con conversion, then he should be honest about it and make a clear case that pipelines and such are worth our blood and treasure. This misguided notion that we must mobilize and kill people because somebody did something bad to a relatively small number of other people, who for the most part hate us too, is going to keep us quite busy doing exactly what Trump promised we would not.

Agreed. Totally un-presidential and tweaking the other largest nuclear superpower in the world at the same time. Plus, assuming he DOES actually send in missiles (why? What’s the US National interest here?), he’ll have done exactly what he always chided Obambi for - broadcast your moves.

You might be right, but I don’t trust Isreal comlpetely on this. They want Assad gone so, and badly. I have a strong suspicion Trump is being played.

Seriously though, Bolton is NOT the driving factor in having us in Syria. To him, Syria is a 'side-show' while Iran is the real enemy.
I like Bolton for the some of same reasons I generally like Trump. Boldness and lack of concern for political correctness.
But I don't agree with either of them (or anyone) ALL of the time. I'm not superficial enough to respect any man over reason or principle. We have enough sycophants here already.
