Moscow will shoot down any U.S. missiles fired at Syria and retaliate against American launch sites, the Russian ambassador to Lebanon has warned.

Ambassador Alexander Zasypkin made the comments on Tuesday while speaking on the Hezbollah-affiliated al-Manar TV channel, Reuters reported.

President Donald Trump is currently considering military action against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad following Saturday’s suspected chemical attack on the rebel-held town of Douma near the capital city of Damascus. Medical relief groups say the attack killed dozens of civilians.

You nailed it. This reminds me of an elderly man with a 38 snub in his pocket. He has no options to run or fight, but he might use the only tool he has if it is a matter of survival in his mind.

More like the old man who used to have a 38 in his pocket but it rusted up years ago so he keeps a stick in there instead.

Only strategic weapon they have left is cutting off oil and gas to Europe, but then that's their entire economy...

I am disappointed by the Neville Chamberlin attitude of so many here.

It was a fact Hitler was gassing the Jews. I have my doubts about who gassed the children and have had those doubts back when it happened under Obama.

Yes, Assad is an evil man, but he’s not stupid.

FWIW, I agree however, IF this is coming from The Lord to DJT, then DJT needs to follow through. If not from The Lord, I believe this is something to avoid.

Ok, you’ve made several posts explaining how Russia has basically not updated it’s arsenal, how their arms industry is dead, how their shipyards and aircraft factories are basically silent.

I thought they were a menace to the world, revanchist, and moving to take over eastern Europe and spread around the world and rebuild the USSR, and are a deadly threat to the west....BUT you also say they aren’t building any equipment.

So which is it?

And we didn’t go to war with Nazi Germany because Hitler was gassing Jews, the gassing didn’t start in earnest until the war was well underway.

“Going ahead with the strike will at the very least cost Trump a big chunk of his base.”

Not really. The RonPaulists isolationists are only about 1% of GOP voters. They are just very loud activists. Their political value is extremely limited, at best.

How are they going to bomb missile sights if they’re coming from submarines?

Strategic and Tactical Submarine warfare is highly developed from decades of development training and practice.

The US is quite adept and holds a lead in most technology and the number of boats, with the Russians following closely in technology and farther in numbers.

To oversimplify a bit, the tactical measure is to be as sneaky as possible, and the countermeasure is massive intelligence and observational technology for tracking.

In short, we try to know where every Russian boat is at all times, and they try to know where every American boat is at all times.

When someone pulls the trigger, the Captains act as ordered.

If an American boat were to launch, and it was within range of a shadowing Russian Asset, the Commander of the Russian Asset would perform as ordered. If the American boat was sufficiently out of range, the Russian asset would pursue if ordered, or target other American Assets, if ordered.

The rest depends on skill, quality and quantity, with the US having an advantage in training and quantity.

Never forget that half the ‘fun’ of war for the brass and politicians is seeing if their multi-million dollar ‘toys’ work, as described by the manufacturer. Usually this is accomplished through proxies. Today, there are few proxies to test these systems.

With so many pols having been bought off. and/or having given the Chicoms so many secrets, the Rooskies likely have bought/been provided with, most Western secrets.

That will be our Navy ships if true.

We will be in World War III for sure.

This happens don’t worry about the election in 2020. We will be in a nuclear conflict which will be the end of our existence.

The Deep State will win. Pray that President Trump understands this is a false flag by the Deep State.

The Deep State will win.

Not quite. The US will be gone, together with the Deep State, and Russia will be severely weakened, not to recover for decades.

The main winner will be China.

So we launch tomahawks at Syrian Air bases, will that include Russian bases?

Apparently, Russia has stated they will defend Syrian bases as their own.

Will it target Assad himself?

Don't know.

Will it shoot down all Syrian Air Force?

No.

will that include Russian planes?

Not all Russian Aircraft will be shot down.

What happens if Russian ships sail out to attack the ships that launched the rockets?

The engagement will escalate.

What if subs sink these offending ships?

The engagement will escalate.

If they use the British base in Cyprus—what if Russian bomb the base?

The engagement will escalate.

What if Bombers are sent from Crimea, to fly over Turkey and bomb US bases in Syria, with the permission of Assad.

The engagement will escalate.

Russia can get revenge. Is this worth Millions of lives?

God only knows.

Good answers.

I strongly suspect that the questions asked were mostly wrong ones. Russian retaliation would likely be primarily done using the Kalibr cruise missiles, same as were used against the Islamists in Syria.

The question is... is it Deep State information being fed to him or is it true?

I’m not convinced.

Good point, of course - but if WE can wonder about that, don’t you think Trump will, too? He’s not stupid.

He’s not stupid, yet he bombed them without evidence against Assad in 2017 according to Mattis’ own words.

"with the US having an advantage in training"

After eight years of Obama perfumed princes preaching social justice rather than actual ops, can we claim that as an advantage?

Mark my words, the Russians will do nothing.

If they do anything, it will be to passively shoot down our cruise missiles.
