And they sue you when they trip over a lawn care tool and get hurt.

What about when they eye your daughters as targets?

BelAire and Beverly Hills are in L.A. County

... and they have yards big enough for several "guest huts"! Oh, and don't forget Palos Verdes Estates and Malibu Cove Colony -- the transients would love to live in a luxurious community on the beach or with a view of Catalina.

(I suspect things won't play out this way, though. We're talking about rich Leftists who, from their weird perspective of how to help the "less-fortunate", do so by requiring others who aren't so rich to bear the burden of doing the elites' "good works".)

So many possible problems...

Nobody is going to rent these taxpayer-funded "granny flats" out to homeless street derelicts. They'll figure out a way to rent them out to normal, functioning people with jobs leaving homeless advocates scratching their heads. "What's going on here?"

By 2030 the homeless problem will have been solved. The homeless will have taken over all the vacant homes of those who left the state and couldn’t sell.

I hear Rob Reiner has a big backyard. It would fit at least a dozen families, comfortably.

Maybe they got the idea from one of Matthew Bracken’s books... If you had a spare room in your house the government made you share it with the homeless...

This must be on the left's wish list, right along with confiscating 401(k)s. They would love to punish the single guy/gal or married couple without children at home for having "too much free space" and tax them out of their homes. I know and have known many people that lived in homes that once housed their entire families, but they happened to be the last ones left. So long as they could afford it, it was no one's business if they chose to remain. But I would always hear the occasional "she doesn't need that big place", as if it is up to anyone else to decided what another "needs".

Remember when we used to mind our own business? I'm not that old, but I do.

Next on the agenda once the “guests” arrive: Invite your homeless neighbor to dinner on your dime.

Los Angeles should pass a law saying if you have 2 or more vacant bedrooms in your house you have to fill them with the homeless.

OTOH, perhaps the rentees will charge the city rent, while running a soylent green business on the side.

Or, maybe a play on "It takes all kinds of critters...to make Farmer Vincent's fritters." /"Motel Hell"

Tax free living with elaborate rainwater, bathrooms, and gardens. No need to work there.

I guessing members of the county Board of Supervisors didn't volunteer to pilot this program at their houses.

The Dallas homeless tent cities don’t seem to be working out...

As Dallas clears out homeless camp near Fair Park, many move to a new camp a short walk away

Only Democrats and RINOs should have these guest houses - mandated.

I fell in love with this idea. Allowing for individual abilities and progress, I think it has a good chance of success for lots of people. ************************************

RACINE -- It's the first-of-its-kind in the country: a village of tiny homes, for homeless veterans -- 15 in all.

Vet1

Each home in the James A. Peterson Veteran Village comes with a closet, couch, electricity, heating and even a TV. Everything inside the homes are meant to be multi-purpose. For example, a stack of drawers that people can put their clothes in also acts as a staircase. The homes are lofted. People can climb up to their beds.

Vet5

"We didn't want to give them everything they needed to move into these small units so they could isolate themselves. Instead -- forcing them to socialize. They'll start to socialize on their own comfort level because all the resources they need are inside the community center."  The center includes a full kitchen, showers, laundry machines, a TV area, and even computers to help with job searches.
