The View erupted after Joy Behar compared President Donald Trump to North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un and Russian President Vladimir Putin, claiming he’s done more in recent weeks to provoke a massive conflict than either of the other two world leaders.
“We have gotten to a point in the world now where we have to rely on the sanity of Kim Jong Un and Putin over the president of the United States,” Behar said. “That’s where we’re at.”
Conservative co-host Meghan McCain condemned her colleague for comparing “the moral relativism between Putin and Kim Jong Un and Trump.”
“Do you think [Kim Jong Un] is less moral than Trump?” Behar asked McCain as several co-hosts tried to jump into the conversation.
“Oh my God!” McCain said.
“On what topic?” Behar asked.
“Chemical gassing of children,” McCain responded. “Last time I checked, America isn’t doing that to anyone.”
“Kim Jong Un doesn’t do that,” Behar shot back. “What are you talking about?!”
“Joy, I’m trying — I’m really trying right now and I know there is frustration about the way we’re communicating about this, and I completely understand it.”
Behar went on to clarify that she believed Trump was taunting the Russian and North Korean leaders on Twitter while they were stepping away from war tactics.
“What I’m saying is I see the two of them with backing off of war, and I see President Trump provoking war,” she said.
“Trump is not provoking war!” McCain replied.
The conversation began after showing Trump’s tweets this week threatening military action against Syria after an alleged chemical attack in the town of Douma injured hundreds, as Russia denied the event ever took place.
