The brutal gang rape and murder of an eight-year old girl has sparked outrage and anger across India.
The body of Asifa Bano, who belonged to a Muslim nomadic tribe, was found in a forest on 17 January near Kathua city of Indian-administered Kashmir.
The story made national headlines this week after Hindu right-wing groups protested the arrest of the accused, who also belonged to a Hindu community.
People are angry that a gruesome crime has become a religious flashpoint.
Police have arrested eight men, including a retired government official, four police officers and a juvenile in connection with Asifa's death.
Asifa, a member of a nomadic Muslim tribe, was grazing horses on 10 January in Kathua, a district of Jammu and Kashmir state, when a farmhand lured her away. She was confined in a small Hindu temple, drugged, raped for five days by a group of men and killed with a rock.
Police allege the crime was intricately planned by Sanji Ram, the temple custodian, who they say agreed to pay local officers 500,000 rupees (£5,400) to create false evidence that would lead investigators away from him and his men.
Ram had been a staunch opponent of the settlement of the Muslim tribe, known as the Bakarwals, in the area, and saw Bano as a soft target in a plot to frighten the group into leaving, police said.

Anyone who would do this to a child deserves to be quickly put to death.
There is no good sense in trying to scare muslims by behaving like them.
I would think carefully before believing muslim accusations against people in a less violent religion. I know that Hindus are far from perfect, but muslims are 10 times worse.
For all we know, the muslims might have gang raped her, killed her, and decided to set up the Hindus.
You could get an entire muslim community to mass-slander and frame. So what kind of credibility do they have?

Not hard-hearted nor a Hindu apologist, but certainly skeptical re ‘the story’.

This smells of a "false flag" operation by the Muslims to justify assaults on the Hindus in this disputed region.
There are some on here that will argue that Hindoos are qualitatively better than Mohammadens.

In any muzz slime/Hindu story, I'm siding with the Hindus. muzz slimes are lying murderers and rapitsts or enablers of same. All of them.
Hindus can be violent, just as bhuddists and Christians can be from time to time, but muzz slimes have a pretty consistent and unabated track record of spreading lies, rape, murder and slavery throughout the world.

In this case, it was indeed the “Hindus” who committed the crime. They’re a radical nationalist splinter faction called RSS, along the lines of some of the more repulsive white-nationalist groups in the US, but ideological rather than racial. They’ve been empowered due to the election of Narendra Modi and the BJP, who are much more nationalist. The last time the BJP was in power, they did the same kind of things: raping and killing kids, burning houses, destroying public buildings.
I can understand the antipathy against Muslims based on the many many false-flag incidents they create, but this isn’t one of them. The perpetrators were caught essentially red-handed in this situation.
I don’t care if it was “the hindus” or the whatever. This is a sick thing for anyone to do. As far as I care about “the sickos who should get their nuts cut off with a rusty knife” committed this crime.
This one is a pretty open-and-shut case. The perps proudly stated they had done this. And it’s not “the hindus” as some monolith but a group of farmers who were Hindus who did this to a group of herders. It could have been done to hindu herders as well. This was a crime. The fact that it was done to a Muslim was incidental (but which is what ensured that this is news)
My Hindu wife was in tears last night while reading about it. She says (and this is a sentiment apparently shared by many Indians) that she wishes the US would take over running the government of India for a century to rewrite the bureaucracy and “habits” of the society there.
In this case, I’m for it. Crimes like this, as a result of the “Delhi Rape Case” aka Nirbhaya a few years ago, now carry the death penalty in India. The typical method of execution in India currently is hanging. I think they should introduce The Chair as well.
While India has a space program, it also has a significant proportion of its population living at a stone age level. The Daily Mail has regular reports on such atrocities in India/Bangladesh/Pakistan.

Christianity at its core is love, so you can get jerk Christians and you can get people who twist the words to justify themselves, but they run up against the person of Christ. Izlam has the person of Mo as the ideal man - which is why ** though people are people, you will find a large percentage of bad among the followers of mo's philosophy
Among Hindus - hinduism is not a religion but a meta-religion. Nearly anything can be clubbed under it, from the folks who say there are no creator gods, to those who worship just Shiva to Tantric masters etc. - there are some Hindu philosophies (note they have no central tenet of faith) like the Thuggee religion that are vile and many that are not
In general hindu philosophies are far better than Izlam
The people who committed this crime, were evil in everyone's eyes - and in nearly every Hindu philosophy (bar some Tantric philosophies), they would earn bad karma for their deeds here.

Yup, these guys may be whatever religion, to me they are pervs who don’t deserve to get the chair but to becastrated and kept in jail in solitary for the rest of their lives.
