Hannity Responds to News He Was Michael Cohen's Client

Fox News host Sean Hannity was revealed as having been a client of President Trump's personal lawyer Michael Cohen during the latter's court hearing Monday. Cohen was appearing in a Manhattan courtroom just days after the FBI raided both his home and office as part of their criminal probe.

Hannity responded on his radio show, noting that the headline was a big nothing burger. Hannity has known Cohen for a long time and has sought his legal advice from time to time, but "not one" of those issues involved a matter between him and a third party.

Michael Cohen has never represented me in any matter. I never retained him, received an invoice, or paid legal fees. I have occasionally had brief discussions with him about legal questions about which I wanted his input and perspective.

I assumed those conversations were confidential, but to be absolutely clear they never involved any matter between me and a third-party.

In response to some wild speculation, let me make clear that I did not ask Michael Cohen to bring this proceeding on my behalf, I have no personal interest in this proceeding, and, in fact, asked that my de minimis discussions with Michael Cohen, which dealt almost exclusively about real estate, not be made a part of this proceeding.

"How did this blow up to be such a big deal?" Hannity asked.

He predicted that the media is under the impression Cohen must have done "a big settlement case" for him.

Hannity's Fox colleague Juan Williams noted on "The Five" that perhaps he should have revealed his relationship with Cohen sooner.

At today's hearing, Judge Kimba Wood told prosecutors they needed to turn over the documents they seized from Cohen's home and office to his legal team so they can determine how much of it is protected under attorney-client privilege.

Kimba Wood was appointed a federal judge by Ronald Reagan.

And?

She was nominated as AG by Bill Clinton and was dropped because she had an illegal Nanny.

She also officiated over George Soros wedding in 2013.

Is this the same Judge Kimba Wood that Slick Willie wanted to be his Attorney General before she withdrew and Janet Reno got the job?

Things that make you go "hmmmmmm..."

NO JOKE

The U.S. District judge who ordered Trump’s lawyer Michael Cohen to identify Sean Hannity had officiated billionaire George Soros’ wedding in 2013.

"Juan Williams talents are more in line with selling cars than political commentator."

LOL -- I wouldn't buy a car from him. He doesn't seem to know much about anything. Why trust his opinion on automobiles?

Juan Williams. I think he must spend his days reading the nyts and WaPo, and watching MSNBCDEFGHIJKLMNOP, because his stock answer, when informed of a truth, is, “I hadn’t heard of that.”

To me, that's the horror of Juan Williams. He expresses the leftist view very well. He understands that view perfectly and believes in it. Juan Williams has calmly decided to work for the wrong side. Others go along because they are afraid or are joining the “cool kids”. But, not Juan, he is drawn to the bad side.

None whatsoever. This whole mess is not a travesty of justice because justice WAS NOT EVEN ATTEMPTED. The whole FBI should be imprisoned.

Nope, it was no one’s business. Why would it be?

He probably should have disclosed that Cohen was a friend, when discussing him on his shows, but then, I’m sure he has friendships with several people in the news. It would be nonsense for him to announce that about everyone he knows. And he said he was not an actual client. Why Cohen was induced to call him one, I don’t know. Perhaps that fear that he would go to jail, like Michael Flynn, if he didn’t. Funny, though, he surely spoke with other friends with general advice or legal type questions. I would almost suspect that someone is out to get Hannity, in the bargain.

“I think you are referring to George Stefanopolis’s disclaimer at the beginning of his shows.

I admire him for his openness.

Why? Does he open each broadcast by telling viewers he is a Clinton sycophant from way back? His disclaimers must take up most of his air time.

You are supposed to state any personal connection to your case.

What connection does he have with the Cohen-Trump case? Stop deflecting and answer the question.

Hannity has openly stated on many occasions that he is not a journalist.

I’m not a journalist jackass. I’m a talk host.

He also told the NYTimes in August of 2016
“I never claimed to be a journalist.”

Dozens if not hundreds.

It would be nonsense for him to announce that about everyone he knows.

Yeah, it sure would.

As I see it this is all about Dems “crippling” or “destroying” Fox news......just another chapter of late...especially since Hannity is the big boy on the block..

Yes, and more than a few FReepers are happy to join in preferring to spin logic into pretzels to make Hannity the bad guy here meanwhile brushing off what’s happening to Trump and Cohen as if that is all a big nothing burger.

If you ask these apologists why Hannity doesn’t enjoy confidentiality for his sources they say “he’s not a reporter he’s just an editorialist, a commentator, a pundit!”

If you ask them on what grounds he should reveal private conversations with people who happen to be in the news they’ll say “he has a responsibility to follow the ethics of a reporter and a journalist!”

I swear some of these people are watching too much Scarborough and Brezinski and think that’s what passes for logic now.

It’s just a feeding frenzy....the sharks are in the water 24/7 now.......and the audiences love to watch a kill....even if it’s one of their own.

Sorry.

Hannity has been one of the few “reporters” on this entire story. Beyond question he qualifies for whatever reporter-source privilege New York law recognizes.

Sean has often differentiated between opinion shows and hard news shows. That distinction does not apply here.

Besides, my basic point was that the ugly left tries to force the right to play by a set of rules they have no intention of honoring. Your post kind of supports that.

That’s the funny thing though Sean is not a news journalist or reporter. Although he actually reports more than MSM. He’s an opinion talk show host! And doesn’t claim to be a non-objective journalist.

I’d heard it as Step-on-All-of-Us. That little creep should NOT be doing ‘news’; only commentary.
