DNC files lawsuit alleging Russia, Trump campaign and WikiLeaks conspired to disrupt 2016 campaign

The Democratic National Committee filed a multimillion-dollar lawsuit Friday against the Russian government, the Trump campaign and the WikiLeaks organization alleging a far-reaching conspiracy to disrupt the 2016 campaign and tilt the election to Donald Trump.

The complaint, filed in federal district court in Manhattan, alleges that top Trump campaign officials conspired with the Russian government and its military spy agency to hurt Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and help Trump by hacking the computer networks of the Democratic Party and disseminating stolen material found there.

“During the 2016 presidential campaign, Russia launched an all-out assault on our democracy, and it found a willing and active partner in Donald Trump’s campaign,” DNC Chairman Tom Perez said in a statement.

“This constituted an act of unprecedented treachery: the campaign of a nominee for President of the United States in league with a hostile foreign power to bolster its own chance to win the presidency,” he said.

The case asserts that the Russian hacking campaign — combined with Trump associates’ contacts with Russia and the campaign’s public cheerleading of the hacks — amounted to an illegal conspiracy to interfere in the election that caused serious damage to the Democratic Party.

Senate investigators and prosecutors for special counsel Robert S. Mueller III are still investigating whether Trump associates coordinated with the Russian efforts. Last month, House Intelligence Committee Republicans said they found no evidence that President Trump and his affiliates colluded with Russian officials to sway the election or that the Kremlin sought to help him — a conclusion rejected by the panel’s Democrats.

That was my thought. Discovery should be VERY interesting. The lawsuit is ONLY meant to distract from Comey and the Mueller flameout. It will get dropped when they start refusing discovery.

I can see it now. Some NY judge orders Trump campaign to pay the DNC $1M ... no ... $1B dollars ... no $100B.

They should sue the voters. We’re the real culprits who conspired against them.

So after a year of investigation by a special prosecutor which turns up no evidence, what do they expect to accomplish?

there is only one constitutional remedy to challenge the certified result of a presidential election, and that is impeachment.

Actually, two remedies - one is less constitutional.

Kind of hard to prove Russian interference since you wouldn’t let the FBI examine your computer servers.

against the Russian government, the Trump campaign and the WikiLeaks organization...

The suit regarding the conspiracy (DNC, DWS, DBM) to defraud Bernie from the nom must be coming next, I'm sure.

The last thing they want the public thinking about is what was in the Wikileaks and podesta emails. Some pretty nasty stuff in there.

If we had a functioning press none of this would have been possible.

RE: So after a year of investigation by a special prosecutor which turns up no evidence, what do they expect to accomplish?

They want to keep the Russian collusion issue in the front pages ( and the MSM will oblige ) all the way to the 2018 elections.

The democratic party operatives that compprise Mueller’s staff have told their bosses at the DNC that their most desperate gambits have all come up empty, and Mueller will be under increasing pressure to conclude his investigation. Thus, the DNC now acts to give their media allies a reason to continue their false narrative.

That’s why I included the qualifier “constitutional”. If we go outside that domain, the totalitarian Left is convinced that we will lose. They are right in a sense, and we are likely to take several million casualties on that path, but they will lose by even more and take tens of millions of casualties.

I pray that they will simply give up their demand for absolute power over our lives. I’m not optimistic, but with God all things are possible.
