Judge: Bars are allowed to throw out Trump supporters

A Manhattan judge ruled Wednesday that there’s nothing “outrageous” about throwing the president’s supporters out of bars — because the law doesn’t protect against political discrimination.

Philadelphia accountant Greg Piatek, 31, was bounced from a West Village watering hole in January 2017, just after Trump took the oath of office, for wearing a “Make America Great Again” cap, according to his lawsuit over the incident.

“Anyone who supports Trump — or believes in what you believe — is not welcome here! And you need to leave right now because we won’t serve you!” Piatek claims the staff of The Happiest Hour on W. 10th St. told him after he and his pals complained about the rude service they were getting from a bartender.

So he sued in Manhattan Supreme Court claiming the incident “offended his sense of being American.”

"I’m wondering why a Trump supporter would darken the door of a West Village bar in Manhattan in the first place."

Maybe he is gay like someone else said he should have claimed to be, to get special treatment from the judge.

Piatek claims the staff of The Happiest Hour on W. 10th St.

Be a shame if they had a fire there. We'd get blamed.

Sex, gender, race etc are protected classes of people. Political party is not a protected class.

Fine by me. If they don’t want me there, I don’t want to be spending my money there. But if this is the rule, don’t be ruining the life of some guy that doesn’t want a gay wedding at his chapel.

I guess this means we can start throwing gays out of straight bars.

They're protected, but if they're not pro-Trump then you're good to go.

He didn't really. He applied the law. People can discriminate against based on political party. That is not illegal. If that is the reason. But if you throw them out because of political party, and they happen to be gay.... you better be sure you throw out everybody of that party.

So much mischief could occur based on this idiotic ruling. Heck, even Facebook, Youtube, and Twitter can claim cover for this as opposed to 1st amendment or other claims.

A baker asks during conversation with a couple over their "wedding" cake, who they supported in the election, they say Hillary or Sanders, the baker can now, according to this judge, kick them out for their political views.

“Correct ruling, needs to be applied equally.”

Do they still produce and sell the signs that state: “We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.”

Yes this is correct.... if the baker kicks out EVERYONE with those political views. BTW.. gay is not a political view, it is a class of people according to the law. But the baker is free to deny service to every democrat.

This whole “protected class” BS is an affront to the 14th Amendment, in my inexpert opinion. It’s a cop-out way for government to enforce identity politics to favored groups.

This has always been the law. You have always been free to ask, and deny based on political affiliation.

This has always been the law.

So can the city refuse services based on political affiliation? Voter registration is public record, at least where I live it is.
