Probably fake news. If it was a small friends only funeral in Arizona - then perhaps. But a DC funeral of a US senator won’t intentionally exclude a President. Trump could show up anyway. Who is going to stop him?

What's left out here is that McCain's people wanted Pence, rather than Trump, to attend -- which is probably what would have happened anyway.
Maybe it wasn't so much a "Don't you dare come, Trump!" as a "The VP will represent you, right? No need to bother coming yourself."
