Some 20 rockets were fired at Israeli military bases by Iranian forces in southern Syria just after midnight on Thursday, with some of the incoming missiles being intercepted by the Iron Dome defense system, the army said, amid sky high tensions on the northern border.
There were no reports of Israeli casualties in the attack. An army spokesperson said damage was caused to Israeli military bases, but that it was “limited.”
The Israeli army said the missile barrage was carried out by members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Quds Forces. This appeared to be one of the few instances of a direct attack on Israel by Iran, which generally operates through proxies.

Hard to sell the 'good neighbor' narrative when they travel 2 countries west of theirs to build forward bases and arms storage with the intent to attack the third country over.

Wouldn’t surprise me the timing is good for them. Reports are all over the place. Did see reports of Israeli artillery firing first (but maybe ‘usual’ cross-border action?).
My impression is that Israel is hitting Syrian assets to make Assad more amenable for Putin to cut Iran out. Dividing Syria/ Russia/ Iran is an intelligent goal for Israel.

I realllly hope so. I have a few close Iranian friends who came here after the overthrow of the Shah in 79. (Well, not right a way...Carter banned them.) They want their fellow Persians to be free.

I believe you are right, but I have no idea whether that will come soon or what we see as a very long time from now. I expect much of the interim to be ugly.
