Retired general: Torture worked on John McCain, that's why they call him 'Songbird John'
The Washington Times ^ | 05-10-2018 | Naomi Lim

Posted on 05/10/2018 9:19:22 PM PDT by Kevin in California

Retired Air Force Lt. Gen. Thomas McInerney on Thursday referred to Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., as "Songbird John" and said torture worked on the former POW.

McInerney, during an interview on Fox Business Network, was slamming McCain's refusal to support CIA director nominee Gina Haspel over her past work at the agency involving enhanced interrogation techniques that are considered torture.

Wasn’t it documented, from papers/documents, that they knew who his dad was and were afraid of some type of mass bombings?

I don’t blame McShame for cracking under torture in Nam.
As bad as that is for a soldier, sailor, I don’t blame anyone for cracking under torture. I might have cracked myself...

I DO blame him for how he sold out America in 2008 by THROWING the election to his bff (outside of Lindsay of course), the illegal IslamoNazi Infiltrator. McShame spent much campaign time going around assuring voters that they COULD INDEED vote for BO, and that BO was a good choice and supposedly loyal to USA, etc. Not one peep of significant criticism of BO from McShame, John just threw the election and there’s no other way of putting it. I blame him super much for that....enabling the usurpation of our federal government..for 8 long years
2. I also blame McShame for his disgusting attacks and undercutting of our new president. We voted for DJT because we liked much of his platform, starting with flushing Obamacare down the first available toilet BUT McSHame voted to keep it.... HORRIBLE! I blame McShame also for his EXTREMELY deplorable attacks against DJT.. deplorable behavior unbecoming an officer or a gentleman.

I hope McShame dies peacefully... without any pain..and.. yes, soon.

“Ok so he was shot down, captured and he sang. And he was out of the war for five years. So he is a “war hero” exactly how ?”

I agree, we use the word “hero” too freely. It diminishes REAL heroes.

The best and most honest appraisal of McCain’s vietnam experience is that he endured a lot of suffering, but that doesn’t rise up to a hero status. I’m sure every other prisoner went through the same ordeal.

"Perhaps they were strange types of injuries that made his face elongated to the point it looks like a horse’s head."

At the end of a day during a hard stretch of the campaign against GW Bush, having received news that Bush may be overcoming him in some polls, it is said that Kerry stopped in at a Beacon Hill bar exhausted. A horse sitting next to him at the bar turned and asked "Why the long face?"

From the LA Times
“McCain’s mishaps in the cockpit
Three early crashes drew Navy scrutiny. A review of his record reveals a cocky flier, prone to test the limits.”

One advantage of having McCain housed in a POW camp is that he no longer had access to a cockpit. The navy could no longer afford having Crash McCain at the controls

“Ouch! This is certain to leave a mark.”

You ain’t kidding. That is a brutal slap down.

Apparently the torture was so effective at getting him to talk that to this day he still can’t shut up.

I hope he dies soon after May 30th, that’s when the Governor selects a new Senator, a REAL “R”. If before 5/30, I believe there will be a special election in November, 2018 and a chance that his seat will go to a Dumbocrat, along with Flake’s seat. Leave it to McCain to retire before 5/30 if he doesn’t croak, to ensure a special election to screw Trump.

While I do not care for or respect JM. In all honesty, I seriously doubt most people could endure the oughtright torture and suffering he did and not break.

The person who wrote this, Naomi Lin, who lives a life of unimaginable comfort in comparison to what JM did in Nam, who goes to bed every day with a full belly, who has never experienced an incling of the pain and suffering JM did for five years shouldn't throw stones.

John McCain, who has risen to political prominence on his image as a Vietnam POW war hero, has, inexplicably, worked very hard to hide from the public stunning information about American prisoners in Vietnam who, unlike him, didn’t return home. Throughout his Senate career, McCain has quietly sponsored and pushed into federal law a set of prohibitions that keep the most revealing information about these men buried as classified documents. Thus the war hero who people would logically imagine as a determined crusader for the interests of POWs and their families became instead the strange champion of hiding the evidence and closing the books.
