Newer cars are almost silent. Many people, particularly older people do not hear well.
The real question is why are buttons and dials more convenient than using a key?
I left my keys in the ignition the other day. It happens. I looked all over the place for the keys. Finally I said, “I wonder if I left them in the car”. I did. Never did that before but shit happens.
