They don’t. To the left, “Hitler” is just a euphemism for “worst person ever”. Compared to Mao, Hitler was a Sunday School teacher. They don’t even really have any sympathy for Jews and don’t really know much about the holocaust.

In a news article recently there was a line: “Henry Ford was an inventor and industrialist who popularized the car.” That means people reading the article had never heard of Henry Ford! Who else are they ignorant of?

First of all, Hitler was never a believer in capitalism as a force to generate power and as a means to deliver a better way of life to ALL people. German capitalism existed both before and during the Nazi regime, but it was always largely confined to the ones who had inherited the business, and relied on cartels to retain their dominance in their particular market segment. In fact, the Nationalist Socialist movement acted to harness what capitalistic organizations there were, and put them to work building state-operated entities, including the Nazi war machine. The “Peoples Car” was launched as a means of graciously accepting down payments for vehicles which were never meant to be widely distributed, then using these down payments to build a government-industrial complex that produced a field command vehicle (the Kubelwagen), Germany’s version of the US Jeep.
And of course, all ideologies and political parties other than the National Socialist German Working Men’s Party, were pretty much outlawed. Far as I know, Trump has made no move whatsoever to outlaw any political party or even some pretty far-out ideologies here in the US.
My attempt-at-humor reaction to this story was how patently absurd the comparison is: Hitler sent people to the gas chambers whereas Trump isn’t even forcing people to go to LA and endure its smog.
