The Torah is not medieval. It’s the first five books of what we call the Old Testament.
As you and another person described it, it sounds like the Talmud would be compared to a Bible Commentary.
That makes sense.
Thank you.

No, the Talmud is composed of two parts, mishna covering Judaic religious law and theology, the second gemara, an elucidation and exegesis of the laws, including culture, folklore, traditions, etc.
I guess for simplicity’s sake I would describe the mishnah as what, and gemara as who and why, but it is much more complex than that.
I stated that *everyone should read the bible and nothing else*?
Where did I do that?
Show me the post.
I'm also sick of your bitchy and trite religious observations that somehow force you to get personal with anybody who doesn't share your uptight beliefs.
Hmm, encouraging people to put their trust in Jesus only is *uptight beliefs*?
I guess Jesus would be surprised to hear that.
John 3:3-8 Jesus answered him,Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus said to him, How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born? Jesus answered, Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, You must be born again. The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.
John 3:14-18 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in him may have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
John 5:24 Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.
John 6:40 For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.
John 11:25-26 Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?
John 20:30-31 Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.
If you want to convert somebody, try posting to someone who doesn't have an IQ above room temperature.
And just what am I trying to convert people to that offends you so much?
More devotion to Jesus? That bothers you?
Another person at the Jerusalem Embassy Opening was Pastor John Hagee who I found very interesting in this very short video defending the rejection of Jesus as Messiah because “he did not come as such”. Also mentions the “Calvary Conspiracy”.
Video from 2010 is only one minute long..

Once again proving it is the Roman Catholic who is usually the first to resort to profanity and/or the personal attack when the argument goes against them.
Wow. I can only imagine the reaction from a Roman Catholic if a Christian had made such a diatribe.
I hope your comment is not pulled so all the world can see how the Roman Catholic responds when a believer in Christ quotes Scripture.
The Scriptures must have hit home to have elicited such a response.
First, Protestant is not a religion.
Second, based on your posts on this thread I'd say you've committed a mortal sin per Roman Catholic teaching [though not the New Testament]
As it stands now you are without benefit of Heaven until you can obtain absolution from a priest.
That would be a very scary thought to know that your eternal destination is no longer Heaven.
But this does seem to be a pattern with you....perhaps the open forums are suited for you.
And for all the male creeps - that means types like the vile anti-Catholic human-vomit troll,...
Ok, if you say so
Dang!
Where'd he get THAT crazy idea???
John 14:6 NIV
Jesus answered, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
HMMMmmm..
This is kinda 'specific'!
John 3:18 is; too...
Such as???
Maimonides, for starters.
OR openly.
Thank GOD for Jim Robinson and his FreeRepublic creation!!!
And probably true about folks in NO 'denomination' as well...
She ain't no more.
You have the right to remain silent...
There's CATHOLICS responding in this thread??
"One indeed is the universal Church of the faithful, outside which no one at all is saved, in which the priest himself is the sacrifice, Jesus Christ, whose body and blood are truly contained in the sacrament of the altar under the species of bread and wine; the bread (changed) into His body by the divine power of transubstantiation, and the wine into the blood, so that to accomplish the mystery of unity we ourselves receive from His (nature) what He Himself received from ours."
--Pope Innocent III and Lateran Council IV (A.D. 1215)
Or is CATHOLIC teaching being blamed for JEWS not making it to Heaven??
