Standing around with your hand out and whining to the gov’t for special consideration and free stuff, AS IF you were someone special, was unheard of and dishonorable.

Shame was a good tool. We should learn to use it again.................

ABSOLUTELY ... stigma worked and even in school ... getting bad grades was a real ‘shame’.

No one wanted to be known as a ‘dummy’ or get held back a year in school.

NOW... everyone passes and everyone, no matter how uneducated or mediocre, moves forward as if they actually KNOW something.
