Rudy Giuliani, President Trumps lawyer, says that special counsel Robert Mueller has agreed to avoid a fishing expedition by narrowing the subject of questions in an effort to get the president to submit to an interview with the prosecutor.
Mr. Giuliani also says he thinks fired FBI Director James Comey is not going to be worth anything as a witness and thus less a threat to the president.
Mr. Giuliani told The Washington Times that Mr. Muellers team displayed a first good faith effort during a Wednesday meeting that might result in an interview in July and a final Mueller report by Labor Day.

Interview this Mueller.
President Trump already interviewed Robert Mueller. I think this is the timeline: - May 9, 2017: Trump fires Comey
- May 16, 2017: Trump spends about 4 hours interviewing Robert Mueller, ostensibly for the FBI Director job which he was ineligible for given he had already served the legal limit.
- May 17, 2017: DAG Rod Rosenstein appoints Robert Mueller as Special Counsel.

Why on earth is his legal team even entertaining the idea of letting the president be interviewed. Or maybe the president is insisting on it. Not a good move no matter what.

Anything beyond “Name, Rank and Serial Number” is too much. And even the Serial Number question is a bit dodgy.

They are baiting the chumps, Not sure how that helps Trump by first appearing willing to testify and then later chickening out. So ... I am not buying it.

Yes, and it's also not established that a resolution of the Mueller "report" is actually going to get any of the Deep State characters off the hook. Those cases involving the Hillary Email whitewashing are not really connected except for the personnel involved and they appear to be ready to grow legs. The FISA warrant abuses won't be affected. The Flynn case, as you point out, is on a separate track. And the Concord Management case has proven a major problem for Mueller's team. So yeah, not a positive trend for the bad guys.
Worse from their point of view is the disappearance of the vaunted Blue Wave - that wasn't supposed to happen, the "scandal" was supposed to build to a crashing victory for the Dems in November and Lord knows CNN and MSNBC have been trying hard enough. With a big enough victory there and full media support Mueller wouldn't actually have to present an actual criminal case, or so went the plan - they could impeach on the strength of an opinion (and damn the future consequences). That doesn't look likely to happen now. Removal from office always was a pipe dream, but at least they'd have had payback for Clinton.
So does Trump give them an opening? I wouldn't, but then he's President and I'm an Internet poster.

Aint worried.
We will see.
Mueller and his gang are up to their eyes in it.
Independent counsel indeed.

Narrow the scope to zero. Tell Mueller to do an unnatural act on himself.

Phony investigation of a made up non crime by criminal administration. No deal.
How about lets interview Mueller and his partisan Council.
