Responding to the shooting this morning at a Santa Fe, Texas high school, President Trump vowed that his administration would take action.
My administration is determined to do everything in our power to protect our students, secure our schools and do everything we can to keep weapons out of the hands of those who pose a threat to themselves and to others, Trump said during an event at the White House. Everyone must work together at every level of government to keep our children safe.
Exactly what that means in practice is anyones guess.
According to the White House, Trump spoke with Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, pledging to work with the governor and to provide federal assistance.
Trump has previously promised his administration would work on school safety before. Following the now infamous high school shooting in Parkland, Fla., the president met with students for an emotional forum in February. There, he promised tougher background checks and mental health screens for gun buyers.
Universal background checks? Raising the minimum age to 21? Whats your guess?
For high school attendance?
I'll have to think about it.
How about hardening the target? How did the shooter get a rifle, shotgun, pistol and bombs into the building?
Their solution, as always, is to punish everyone who didn't do anything.
Doom on 'em.
THEY'RE A MASS MURDER WAITING TO HAPPEN
Get rid of gun free zones. That was something pushed by Biden. Its been a disaster.
Did anyone else read that ?
A good move would be to end Gun Free Zones, otherwise known as Slaughter Zones.
Private schools, people use vouchers to attend the school of their choice, the school can have their own rules, arm teachers, resource officers etc.
Trump needs to issue an Executive Order requiring all public schools by the start of the new school year to secure their buildings. This should include metal detectors and x-ray scanners at main entrances, locked down and surveilled non-main entrances, and uniformed Federal or police officers at every school during school hours. The funds to do this should come from our Federal coffers. I’m sure we have enough wasted money in the system to use for this.
The schools would need to adjust their schedules to allow for the added time students will need to enter the schools.
I’d love to see the Democrats fight this order. IT NEEDS TO BE GIVEN IMMEDIATELY!
If he does this, school shooting will virtually disappear.
How about parents start doing their jobs, and stop letting the schools raise their children?
We should make going to school like going to the airport. Get metal detectors and security personnel. What a pain in the you know what. But in this crazy world, that would be a giant step forward.
Harden the targets.
End the socialist government-run schools!
He was a student, allowed to be on campus. Only thing that could have possibly stopped him from initiating the shooting would have been a metal detector with an armed guard present.
Gun Free Zones, where killers can murder without worrying about being stopped.
Yes! Shut them down. And anyone who says “no” obviously doesn’t care about children being slaughtered. The NEA has blood on their hands.
According to something I read the first attempt was the pulling
of a fire alarm by a teacher. How accurate I don’t know.
If the political class had to send their kids to public schools, they’d likely be in that dilemma about having to confront the union shops that basically permit habitual discipline problems like this kid in Texas (along with Cruz, Lanza, Kinkel, and Klebold and Harris) to carry on with their abhorrent behaviour until it is too late.
I notice that most, if not all, school shootings happen in schools located in good neighborhoods. The inner city schools already have armed guards and secure perimeters to protect the students from gangsters and other dangerous people.
1. It is illegal for a 17 year old to purchase a shotgun.
2. It is illegal for a 17 year old to purchase a handgun.
Most importantly:
3. It is ILLEGAL to murder another person.
