I can see Trump only doing one term, or possibly resigning on Jan 20, 2023.

Because second terms are troublesome and wasteful. Already, after the 2nd term begins, the horserace begins and the polls come out. If there's one thing Mexico and the Confederacy had right, it was that the President only serves a single six-year term.

Roger has never been close to Trump. It is as with all of his stories full of his puffery

Typically that's true. As we know, Trump isn't the typical politician.
If he is still in good health, and feels he has more to accomplish, he will.
So as they say, time will tell.

I agree with you. For one thing, the man just may be worn out by then. Mr. Trump will be what? 72 or 73 in 2020. He is only human. He may want a permanent break from all the foolishness of White House politics. Can you blame him? I am AMAZED at his energy thus far, from the campaign all the way through into this very day. And all this energy, all this unbridled, enterprising ambition in the face of unending opposition from both sides. Nothing lasts forever, certainly not at it’s present intensity.

The only thing that makes me doubt that this is the plan is for R. Stone to start talking about it now in a public forum.
This behavior might be Pres. Trump playing mind games on both Pence and Haley, to see what their reaction will look like.
