Why couldnt the Santa Fe, TX school shooter have used an AR-15? A large magazine? Or at least a bump stock? That would have made it easier to call for more gun control.
That was the subtext of Chris Cuomos lament on CNN this morning. Cuomo said that the shooting,
doesnt set up great for the gun debate.
Cuomo was presumably referring to the fact that the two weapons used by the shooter were a .38 revolver and a shotgun. Instead of being high-tech assault weapons, they are both based on 19th-century technology, dating back almost 200 years old in the case of the revolver.

Cuomo confounded that TX school shooter used old-tech weapons. Makes it harder to call for more gun control.
Ping to Liberal Media Criticism list.
The issue is never the issue.
The issue is always the Revolution.
And for the media, that means that everything must always serve The Narrative.
I’m surprised he didn’t go the opposite route — “see? Even revolvers and shotguns are a danger to society, ban them ALL.”
Well said.
That weird grin after he pantomimes the gun is incredibly creepy.
As much as he might like to do that, he probably realizes that it would just provide fodder for Republicans.
High tech weapons are not needed to efficiently kill. The feral community seems to have no problem using knives, clubs and acid when firearms are not available.
Their main organization was once called the "National Coalition to Ban Handguns".
Buffoon Morning Joe told a real whopper this morning.
He implied that the kid with the shotgun didn’t have to reload while someone using an AR-15 would have had to reload time and time again.
Utter stupidity on display. (I know, I know. I shouldn’t be watching this crap).
Have you noticed the subdued reaction from the radical left? Compared to Parkland this is a non event. Im sure the Rats main concern is not with the victims but the fact that their narrative could suffer due to the use of a shotgun.
While firearms have been in common use since the 14h Century, pistol-grip autoloading long guns have been commonly used for close to a century.
“Cuomo confounded that TX school shooter used old-tech weapons.”
Semiautomatics aren’t particularly “new” either. AR15 is well over half a century old & came after other design iterations. M1911, basis of all semi auto handguns, is over a century old.
What is low tech about a shotgun?
These idiots do realize that with a few exceptions, modern small arms are WWII technology, right?
Good points.
I believe that Cuomo and his crowd feel like the AR-15 gives them something to focus on, whereas calling for the banning of revolvers and shotguns would be a political disaster.
I probably should have said “old tech” rather than “low tech.”

.....and school shootings are relatively new....but guns aren't. My Dad went to school with a .22LR to kill squirrels/rabbits on the way home in the 40s and 50s. Teacher kept his box of .22s in her desk and the rifle stacked in the corner with the others. Hell, his first day of school photo he's holding a Western Cap pistol! Guns have been ubiquitous in America.
When I was in high school in the late 1980s, our Principle , Father Tribou came on the intercom and said, "Boys, I know tomorrow is the first day of duck season, but if you have a shotgun in your vehicle, I need you to move over to the street or down at the mall because the Bishop doesn't like guns". Heck, I brought in Vietnam captured guns (SKS/Makarov)n , flags and swords to show and tell in JROTC class. Our USMC Gunny loved it.
The first school shooting I heard of I was already though basic and AIT. The next one, Columbine, I was done with college and had my commission. 1/3 of my life, no school massacres.
