To: Kathy in Alaska
An important day for me, Kathy. Fifty years ago today, 23 May 1968, I qualified as a Hospital Corpsman in the U.S. Navy. And the things that have unfolded from that day have defined who I am ever since.

"I am an American fighting man. I serve in the forces guarding our country and our way of life.
I am prepared to give my life in their defense."
