Very well written.

Americans are far too complacent and ignorant of the potential for chaos we face. “It can’t happen here”. No country is immune.

FR has a real opportunity to provide a mechanism for leading the way towards discussing & debating a foundation for what happens next.

For one, and perhaps this is the most important point, is that what occurred really has nothing to do with Trump. If one were to read the death sentences for either Charles II (English civil war) or Louis XVII (French revolution), their respective crimes of treason were that they were committed against the state.

Sure, there were leading figures, such as Cromwell and Danton, who personalize and put faces to the attempted coups conducted by the former monarchs, but in reality, they are simply representatives of the true sovereign - the People.

Same is true of Trump. He many have been the particular directed personal target of the coup, but the true war actions undertaken by the traitor Hussein et al were taken against the entire sovereign aka We The People. As such, Trump in his duly legally authorized role of upholder of the constitution, is responsible for conducting the response to this war effort in a means satisfactory to the peace of the country.

Trump cannot opt out even if he would like. People should think about and savor what that means. The matter of conducting the war is not Trump's choice - he is obligated to uphold his oath to defend the country against both foreign and domestic enemies.
