Precedent for what? A Senator dying in office and then the governor appointing a replacement? Yes...governor can appoint anyone he wants that is eligible to serve as long as they meet the constitutional requirements...it is not an uncommon practice for widows to be successors.

I always wondered why folks in AZ kept sending McCain back to the Senate just like McConnell in Ky. Good grief...AZ residents, come on in for the big win will ya? JUST SAY NO!!
I remember the Kennedy's and their fellow Dems seemed to think the same way about Teddy's seat.
I am very tired of all of these American Dynasties. Now, as to McCain's wife -- what are her qualifications to be a U.S. Senator? Wasn't she like some beauty pageant winner? She may be a perfectly nice person; but, how is she Senate material?
