Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau took aim at President Trump on Thursday over his implementation of steel and aluminum tariffs against Canada and other nations.
At a press conference Thursday, the Canadian leader issued some of his strongest remarks against the Trump administration's trade policies to date.
"Let me be clear: These tariffs are totally unacceptable," Trudeau said. "Canadians have served alongside Americans in two world wars and in Korea. From the beaches of Normandy to the mountains of Afghanistan, we have fought and died together."
Noting that Canada purchases more U.S. steel than any other nation, Trudeau lambasted the Trump administration for initiating the tariffs under the guise of confronting a threat to national security. "Canada is a secure supplier of aluminum and steel to the U.S. defense industry, putting aluminum in American planes and steel in American tanks," Trudeau said. "That Canada could be considered a national security threat to the United States is inconceivable."
"These tariffs are an affront to the long-standing security partnership between Canada and the United States, and in particular, to the thousands of Canadians who have fought and died alongside American comrades-in-arms," he finished.

Notice, though, that I’m not arguing against the tariffs. It’s highly likely that the Trump Administration knows what it’s doing in regards to trade and is trying to get America first and all of North America going better again with production.
The tariff that we need to drop is that stupid tariff against lumber from Canada. Many small builders and owner-builders in the U.S.A. should have access to lumber that is not throttled by a monopoly.
Our years long deficits have been payment enough for a fight you should have, by any right, shared in, if only to save yourselves ...
As an ex infanteer 2nd Battalion, Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry with three tours I say to Trudeau “go eff yourself you commie bastard”. He is not what Canada is! He does not represent me, he does not represent my brothers! He’s a piece of garbage and a waste of skin!
Everyone I talk to agrees. Unfortunately in the west, we don’t get a vote. Quebec and Ontario have all the seats and control the votes. We would be far better off to just become the 51st state! Screw this socialist hole! I’m not Canadian! I’m Albertan!
On Justin Castro being beside the point, I was saying that he is irrelevant in general. The son of Fidel Castro just talks to stir the pot and doesn’t accomplish much else. I suspect that he’s begun to pile up some debt up there, though, and is following in the footsteps of Obama and Hillary more or less.
Why is it ok to throttle small business consumers( manufacturers) through a monopoly, U.S. mills?
I didn't and have not "disrespected" Canadian troops and your stupid strawman argument says far more about YOU than you realize.
Psssssssssssssssssssssssst...it is you who are having difficulty in sticking to the thread's topic, not I.
Justin Trudeau ought to take up writing fantasy novels. His Utopian dreams and rat fink schemes is unmasking our northern lefties for the regime they have become.
WHY?
Are you, members of your family, your ancestors from Canada?
OTOH...he IS his biological father's son and his actual father was also a damned POS and a useless lefty.
He’s drinking the same Kool-Aid as Sally Field. LOL
Just funny!!!
Ah, you’re more than welcome. My unit was *not* mobilized during my years of training as a combat engineer in the National Guard (end of the ‘80s through the late ‘90s, so it was the least that I could do.
Oh, and by the way, #FreeTommy

IMO, we should form strong bonds where mutually beneficial and hold on to those bonds tightly. As for the trade negotiations, the Trump Administration is doing its wheeling and dealing for some kind of agreement, but it won’t starve Canada (too much to lose there).
Agreed. Tariffs are bad. Distort capitol flows and labor flows, etc. There is just a teensy weensy tiny little problem with your thinking. The other sides have them and we don’t. We are getting our A$$es handed to us tradewise. Be it through transshipment to avoid even our meager tariffs or subsidizing local industry in order to destroy our commensurate industry.
I traded physical commodities in a previous life.

Canada tariffs American products but gets pissed when e tariff theirs. Typical childish liberals.
Your honest, pragmatic, politically incorrect assessment is refreshing. It took a long time, but I now realize that it’s a relatively rare blessing when you find someone you can trust.
Well I have an opinion on everything and opinions are like aholes. Everyone has one and they all stink. (even mine)
