“David French notes that one of Justice Kennedy’s reasons for finding Colorado was motivated by anti-religious animus in its ruling against the baker is that Colorado has protected the right of bakers to refuse to create cakes with explicitly anti-gay messages. This portion of the majority opinion will make it difficult in some wedding vendor cases for states to navigate their way around today’s decision.”

Yesterday I heard a pro-gay libtertarian ‘conservative’ talk radio host say that the baker was able to show years of Christian observance, walked the walk in all aspects of his life, etc.

I don’t find that requirement of no sin, no hypocrisy, no recent conversion, etc. If it is your firmly held religious belief, that should be enough.

Even the Pastafarians who insist on drivers license photos with metal ‘hats’ don’t actually wear them when they go driving.
