McConnell cancels Senate's August recess
The Hill ^ | June 5, 2018 | Jordain Carney

Posted on 06/05/2018 10:43:46 AM PDT by jazusamo

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said on Tuesday that he will cancel the August recess, citing "historic obstruction" by Democrats.

“Due to the historic obstruction by Senate Democrats of the president’s nominees, and the goal of passing appropriations bills prior to the end of the fiscal year, the August recess has been canceled," McConnell said in a statement.

He added that senators would stay in session "to pass legislation, including appropriations bills, and to make additional progress on the president’s nominees.”

The Senate had been expected to leave town on August 3 for a four-week break and not return to Washington until early September, after Labor Day.

But under McConnell's new plan, senators are expected to be out of town for the week of August 6. They will then return to Washington and remain in session for the rest of the month.

Here is McConnell's full statement.

“Due to the historic obstruction by Senate Democrats of the president’s nominees, and the goal of passing appropriations bills prior to the end of the fiscal year, the August recess has been canceled. Senators should expect to remain in session in August to pass legislation, including appropriations bills, and to make additional progress on the president’s nominees.”

Blocking the nomination of Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court to get us Neil Gorsuch was a super thing for McConnell to do. He caught flak 24/7 from the democrat media/entertainment/propaganda complex, but despite that he never wavered in his resolve.

“The Senate Democrats, Wyden in particular are still holding on to the Russia narrative as a means to stall the nomination process”

The Rats know damn well it’s BS. The idiot base believe it but the leaderships knows.

Is it good news?

I though McConnell was keeping the Senate in session to prevent Trump form making any recess appointments.

So, if we could get Rosenstein to recuse, what about the #3 at DOJ. I thought that post was open.

A drawback, no recess appointments... “Team Mitch” wants to prevent that...

Ha good one. Rats never recuse Rats never resign. The leader of the coup stays until Trump fires him. Trump should fire him and appoint a whit hat interim who will
hold Mueller and his Rat squad accountable IMHO.

The President has not nominated anyone for the Associate Attorney General job (#3 at DOJ). Jesse Panuccio, an outsider to the DOJ from Florida, is Acting Associate Attorney General.

Partner, the far left liberal leftist Rat party and its right arm the MSM is so far out to the left that they are currently out of the ball park.

The Rats right now are a bunch of traitorous, treacherous, back stabbing, back biting, faithless, and disloyal Americans that we have ever seen from the Rat party.

Of course, the right arm of the Rat party are the giant sixth brain journalists reporting thru the air waves all the communist/socialists ideals to their dwindling audiences.

Like we keep on saying that this could not have happened to a nicer bunch of guys.

“I hope it’s not an excuse to ram through amnesty at a midnight hour.”

Well, if that’s his game plan, it will be time “for the rubber to hit the road with Trump” and his previous statements that he would not sign a turd like the one that’s being “laid” in the House as this is being written.

With so many more sitting Democrat Senators defending their seats this year, it will hit them a lot harder to not be able to campaign at home, and might even distract time from fundraising!

If 51 is needed for a senate quorum, look for all democrats to leave. McCain is dead/dying/unconscious. He would not come snyway, just to spite trump.

“Watch the Dems scream that they can’t campaign!”

And neither can the republicans, and Trump can’t do recess appointments.

The power to compel absent Senators to attend is unlimited. Congressmen know that.
