I take it on a case-by-case basis. I have plenty of music by lefties, but I know for myself where the line gets drawn. The ones who are so egregious they make me think about their politics the whole time I’m listening to them? I’m done with them. Decide that for yourself. If you are a huge fan of Moby’s music (I don’t know any of it myself) and you are able to and really want to enjoy it in spite of him, just go ahead and do it. Your download isn’t going to make or break him.

My own examples:

Billy Joel. Big liberal. But, he has stated his policy to not preach politics from the stage because he knows there are those who disagree, and they didn’t pay money to be bashed over the head. He’s a go for me.

Linda Ronstadt. Said she gets sick to her stomach to think there might be Christian conservatives in her audience. I don’t even listen to her when she comes on the radio now.

You make good points. I may buy that Moby song sometime in the future (as you said, it won’t make or break him); it just won’t be right now, as I don’t want to pad his current sales...could be interpreted as listeners agreeing with his Trump comments and supporting his efforts. That’s what I did with Kanye. I’d never bought his music until recently, after he took so much heat for his pro-Trump remarks. I definitely was hoping enough people would do the same, and thereby cause a noticeable spike in his sales.

You’re right about Billy Joel and Linda Ronstadt: I didn’t know he was a leftie, but I definitely knew that she was!
