In the war over documents between the House and Senate committees investigating the FBI and other intelligence abuses and the FBI/Department of Justice, you might wonder why Congress keeps whining. After all, they say “We asked for these documents a year ago and still don’t have them!” “Why weren’t these sections included in what we requested?” And so on.
You have probably heard that Congress has “oversight” powers over these executive departments and agencies. In a sense that’s true, although there was no Federal Bureau of Investigation in 1789. Indeed, there is no Department of Justice mentioned in the Constitution (and it didn’t appear until 1870—interestingly, recent scholarship suggests, not so much as to handle all the leftover Civil War cases but to streamline and reduce the size of government). The first Attorney General, Edmund Randolph, took office in September 1789 after Congress passed the Judiciary Act of 1789 that created the Office of the Attorney General. It is tenuously through that Act that Congress maintains any control at all over the AG’s office, the staff of which is appointed by the president with the advice and consent of the U.S. Senate.

Timing is favorable right now. He has a reservoir of political capital coming off the heels of the NK Summit and the strong U.S. economic performance since his election.
There are other positives as well, but the beneficial wind behind his back right now is that the DOJ and FBI have been exposed through congressional investigations and the release of the IG findings that he can highlight. The timing is good for cleaning out those rogue agencies.
People are well aware of the corruption within the executive branch and rightly expect the president to do something about it. You may disagree but bad things have a way of getting worse if left unchecked. Nobody stopped Obama and we came perilously close to seeing our country turned into a police state.
I don’t think the timing for Trump could be much better than it is now. He has the Bully Bulpit and should go before the American people and make the case for cleaning house. It would also be consistent with his oft repeated promise to Drain the Swamp. Its what he was elected to do.
If they can pass that, then they could also pass legislation abolishing civil service protection for DOJ and FBI employees, and give the president the authority to fire any or all of them.
Then Trump could just perform a decimation. “All employees whose social security number ends in 5 are hereby terminated”.
“He has the Bully Bulpit and should go before the American people and make the case for cleaning house”.

There is no executive branch privilege of any sort from a Congressional Impeachment investigation.

Not sure I understand your point. The House can impeach executive branch office holders other than the POTUS.
Trump potentially could start firing them for not complying - time to clear out all the obama appointees and anyone THEY appointed.

I've said this many, many times, but Trump holds all the cards. I happen to believe he is 100% in charge of what is unfolding, and is allowing events to take place at his leisure. I know others like EG hold a more alarming opinion, but my confidence is based on my expectation of military support.
I think Trump is allowing the judicial process to play itself out fully to whatever extent is possible with that corrupt branch. If it ultimately produces the desires results, then Trump/we will have won taking the easy path. But the hard way is still left in reserve. Lincoln had the 'nads to take the nation to war. The huge question is does Trump? I think he does.
It simply makes no logical sense to me why anyone would have gone through all this tremendous time and effort to simply throw up their hands when victory is so close and say "no mas". If calling out the militia and/or military to defend the nation against real and present existential dangers is the only remaining course of action to achieve MAGA, then I assume Trump will be able to do what is necessary.
Good luck trying to arrest RR.
