Lindsay Shepherd sues Wilfrid Laurier, claiming 'attacks'

Lindsay Shepherd, the teaching assistant who rose to prominence after she was controversially disciplined for showing her class part of a TVOntario program on gender-neutral pronouns, is suing Wilfrid Laurier University, two professors, and a manager of the school’s Diversity and Equity Office.

She claims harassment, intentional infliction of nervous shock, negligence, and constructive dismissal.

The “attacks” on her “have rendered her unemployable in academia,” she claims, and forced her to abandon her career plans for further graduate study and teaching.

The statement of claim, which seeks $3.6 million, was filed Tuesday in Waterloo, Ont., and as yet no statements of defence have been filed. In her suit, Shepherd claims she had not even taken a side on the pronoun issue, “disagreed with what she understood to be Peterson’s perspective,” and presented the debate neutrally.

Still, she was “attacked as a protegee and supporter of Peterson.” In an interview Tuesday, Shepherd said many lawyers reached out to offer counsel and many people urged her to file this suit, saying things like “You need to do this or else Laurier is not going to get the point,” she said.

But she thought the school was getting the point, so she resisted. It was only the more recent points of conflict that convinced her the environment was thoroughly poisoned and the lawsuit necessary. “I don’t care if I win or not, it’s just to make a point that after months of this, you (the school) still don’t get it,” she said. “So what can I do other than this? People have been urging me to do this from the beginning and perhaps they were right.”

Read the article. Video shown to students included a debate between Jordan Peterson and some gender-altered professor. The University became triggered because a video featuring Jordan Peterson was shown to the students, but they hid behind the false claim that a student from that class complained because the content. Peterson is a good guy fighting for free speech in Canada - you can trigger an SJW just by saying his name.

I also read the article. It appears she is fighting the good fight, and giving the PC Left a dose of its own medicine. Jordan Peterson, the person in the video she screened, is a voice for true free speech and academic freedom.

She committed an unforgivable sin to the Leftists. She allowed students to see and hear for themselves somebody who the Left has classified as evil and as bad as Hitler (Jordan Peterson), and so risked having students decide that Peterson was not the crazy person that the Left portrayed him as.

The Left stands or falls according to how well they control the narrative. By jeopardizing their control of the narrative on campus, professor Lindsay Shepherd landed on their enemies list.
