The Senate is awakening to the fact that this out of control and corrupt agency threatens even them.

[...] What happens if nothing happens?
What happens if nothing changes and the criminal Swamp Things aren't prosecuted and convicted for their de facto treason?

To quote a paragraph from another article that was posted yesterday, entitled The IG Report Was a Whitewash and Devastating All At Once (quoted in italics and bold emphasis added by me):

Our country cannot go on like this. The rule of law matters, and the rule of law does not have exceptions that exempt preferred people and groups. We have tolerated this abomination long enough – it has to stop. Either the elite rediscovers its sense of duty and service and stops it, or we will stop it. Donald Trump is our latest attempt to do that. If he is unable to do so, the elite is really going to hate what we try next.

Lindsey “Lowlife” Gramnesty musta wet his finger and held it up. When re-election’s on the horizon... POOF! he’s a conservative again! Mazin how that works! If (please no!) he’s re-elected... he’ll promptly return to the Swamp.

Trump must have flipped Graham somehow

Graham is obviously concerned about getting primaried out of his Senate seat in 2020 by a conservative challenger. His pal McCain played the same game in Arizona by becoming more of a team player and sounding more conservative on an issue or two as Senate primaries approached.

So Linda deserves half a clap of applause for this.

I already can visualize many of the posts on this
thread although I have yet to examine it. I understand
the hate for Senator Graham and Bill O’Reilly and
Ann Coulter and Senator Rubio and Rep Gowdy and FOX News.
There is a tendency for some FRiends to try to out-
hardcore each other. And there are those who post as
though there are only the all good or the all bad. The
reality is that we’re talking politics and politicians.

If you fall in love with a politician you are going to
get your heart broken. Same goes for talking heads.
But that doesn’t mean they never serve a useful
and timely purpose. Let’s keep an open ear.

It's not about being all good or all bad. When a stopped clock is right twice a day, you acknowledge that fact, but that doesn't mean that you go ahead and pretend that the clock is now working just fine.

I know better than to fully trust any politician, and so do most people here.

The question is who on balance is helping advance the agendas we want and who on balance is impeding them. Lindsey Graham has done more over the years to harm a conservative agenda (particularly on the national question) than he has ever done to help it. As primaries approach, people like Graham need to start looking and sounding better than who they really are. I know better than to think this leopard (or rather, pink panther) has really changed its spots.

In contrast, Donald Trump has said and done many things that I dislike and disagree with, but on balance he's a force for good in this country.

Another way to look at this, ozarkgirl, is that
Graham is no different than the rest of us. We are
all a little more complicated than we would like
to admit. My opinion is we should not get wrapped up
in the total good or total bad of any of our so-called
conservative politicians. No doubt Lindsey Graham will
break our hearts again. It is for the voters of South
Carolina to determine if they want to be represented by
a person who sees himself as an objective statesman or
a person who picks a side and stays loyal to it thru
thick and thin.

In no way am I advocating for people pretending “that
the clock is working just fine”. If you are thinking
that I am sticking up for Graham then you would be
wrong.

This whole thread basically proves my point. So many
posters demonstrate shock in what Graham has to say in
attacking the IG report. Why is that? Graham is being
Graham and contrary to what you assert, he would be
doing the same thing whether or not he was running
for re-election. He thinks he demonstrates personal
independence while we conservatives see him as a
RINO turd.

I say compliment these guys when they do right and
slam them when they f-up. Just please quit being
so damned shocked when they stray from percieved
type. I realize it is hard considering the fact
that these days all Democrats never stray from
being in complete asshole mode.

Depending on how you look at it, Bill Clinton was a pragmatist or an opportunist, he was never a hard-left ideologue during his Presidency. So he was willing to go along with a GOP Congress to sign things like tax cuts and welfare reform into law. That doesn't make him any more admirable - it just shows him to be non-ideological. The same thing is true for non-ideological, liberal-leaning Republicans like Graham. Sometimes they do things we like, a lot of the time they do things that the Democrats like.

You don’t even need to use the example of WJC. The
current President with whom we share a basic overall
approval of is not any kind of an idealogue.

You and I aren’t really far apart. But, I’m not asking
anybody to admire Graham or anyone else. I’m just
suggesting that we should be sophisticated enough to
understand that guys like Graham are not all one thing
or all the other. Yah, Graham is never going to be
anything close to my favorite conservative. However, I
appreciate the help from wherever it comes. For the
record I don’t know how Graham’s voting record stacks
up against other Republicans. Maybe you do.
