...Aren’t income taxes a relatively recent...

Yes, however there were other taxes at the time of the writing of the Constitution.
Remember “Taxation without representation?”

But,taxes or their payment were not tied to the qualifications to run for the Presidency.

The taxes referred to in
Article I, Section 8, Clause 1
aren’t tied to the Presidency at all.

The Congress shall have Power to lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States

He DID show a birth certificate (dubious as it was), but it was AFTER he was elected. I can’t beer without showing proof of age, and I am 58.

How can any reasonable, informed person vote for these people?

“They can never show how those policies lead to more prosperity and freedom for all. “

Because they know that they don't! All this Liberal/Marxist Bull$hit is the “egalitarian wet dream" of the cadre of $hit posing as college professors, who have come to the mistaken conclusion that they alone are the only ones smart enough to tell the rest of us how we should live. If we were to close our "institutions of higher learning" for five years, and force these crapweasels to get real jobs, you would immediately see a difference here.

LOL. 22 of these states he would never win anyway, so what does it matter, expect to prove that Liberals are tyrannical fascists? Liberals hate freedom. Liberals hate fairness. Liberals hate it when people are self-governed. They demand control, like they are royalty or something.

If they want to defeat him, why not do it by convincing voters that their ideas are better?

Because "We're going take take back your crumbs and give you MS-13 neighbors" isn't a winning message.

Being elected and being eligible are two different things. Being elected does not make you eligible to hold the office if you do not have proof of eligibility. He did not have proof nor to this day have we seen proof. Since the Twentieth Amendment, Section Three REQUIRES that Congress sees proof, he had to present it to them or he could not serve legally in the office of President. A fake birth certificate is not proof of eligibility but is closer to being proof that there is no birth certificate available.

Didn’t Rachel Madcow illegally release one year of then private citizen Donald Trump’s tax returns, which showed he paid $35 million in federal income taxes alone that particular year?

Of course, no one went to jail for illegally releasing the president’s taxes.

Sounds like, according to this, the states could just pass a law saying “No Republicans Allowed” on our ballot.

Trump said he would release his returns after the audit and he has not done so. If he has to post them so will the dem candidate.

You don’t let Trump off the hook by pointing out Obama’s secret life.

I dont think the Constitution imposes a requirement to release private tax or financial forms as a condition of elegibility to run for office

Its really very simple

But if so - can we require that only taxpayers can vote?

If Trumps taxes werent properly and legally filed for many years past, the weaponized IRS would have been used against him many years ago

The states don’t have the right to force the candidate to show tax forms. At any time, for any reason.

Trying to do it during a presidential campaign doesn’t change anything.

Here’s an idea. Force all candidates to produce a birth certificate.
