Something that I have always been curious about, are our SS agents allowed to carry their weapons?
If there is, God forbid, an incident would they rush the President to one of their substandard hospitals?
Short answer: Yes, the Secret Service is armed when protecting the President even on foreign soil. Always. A bit of paperwork is usually involved, but our President always has armed security. Most host countries also provide additional security. But our Secret Service does not rely on that. (This is public knowledge, not giving up any security secrets here.)
